D&D 5E What is your favourite PHB class?

Paladin has always been my favorite class since 1st edition. I expect this to continue in 5th edition.

I'm curious about their Oaths though. Are Oaths tied to Alignment? Can there be Lawful Good Vengeance Paladins, or is the Vengeance Oath only for non LG Paladins?

Most likely, considering that so far alignment is a flavor concept that doesn't affect any game mechanics.

I'm not really sure how you can place the blame on Wild Magic for Sorcerers losing spears. That's a pretty wild* leap of logic. I doubt anyone said "2e Wild mages never got spears so let's take away all of the sorcerer's weapons!". I can appreciate wanting other bloodlines in lieu of Wild Magic (I'll admit they aren't for everyone) but Wild Magic, in terms of flavor, definitely belongs under Sorcerer and not Wizard.

Remember that Wild Mages (and the use of Mage as a class name) predates Sorcerers and Wizards. As far I'm concerned Mage could be a catch all term for both types of casters.

Insufficient information to say what my favorite is. But the things I'm most excited to see:

  • Conjuror
  • Necromancer
  • Fiendish-pact warlock
  • Eldritch knight
  • Arcane trickster

    • Yeah, I'm that player. :)

At this point, I believe I'll personally most enjoy Great Old One Patron Warlocks and Arcane Trickster Rogues. But this is also the first edition that screams "I want to try them all!" To me.
