What Kind of Computer Programs would you like to see created for DnD?

My personal opinion on the topic is that I would like to see a computer program that not only lets you create maps for an encounter, but the program itself actually controls the creatures.

For Example: If I have an NPC involved in a fight, and I want to be effective with him without letting him seem too knowlegeable and skilled, I could let his actions be decided by the computer program. The program knows where the creatures are, where the NPC stands, and where the PCs are, and would simply presume what the best action for the NPC is.

I'm not asking for something elaborate, because PCs are always coming up with creative ways to tackle an obstacle, but I would like to have a map on a computer screen with icons for traps, treasure, and different stuff, that also can tell me actions to take for a Dragon, Orc, or NPC in the room.

It also could take the work out of memorizing a Great Wyrm's spell list...

The program that Master Tools should have been. One that would take my thoughts and ideas and produce a nice little module.

This may get moved to software forum...:)

I gotta agree with Hand of Evil.

What I would like to see is something to help me author a adventure to play at the table (the original MasterTools concept).

I have zero interest in using a PC in-game. Doubt if I ever will take a laptop to a game, let alone actually try to use one during it.

Oh, and this will probably get moved to Software :)

A program that will allow me to do mass battles and yet still use the full set of D&D rules. It will need to have some level of AI so that you don't have to choose the individual actions of all 500 troops involved in the battle. It could be very much like Warcraft except use d20 rules.

RPM is getting close to this.

A fully customizable random NPC generator that allows me to set the relative frequencies of everything. I am working on it.

There's some descent Excel sheets in the Electronic Aids section that use the DMG format. I suggest Fast Learner's version, you can send a detailed XP sheet to your PCs, pretty cool.

I've made such a program although it doesn't do all the things you want, it does let you creates your map and run them on the computer. You can download it here

I'm also working on a new version that let you resolve combat turn by turn. I've also included a lot more icons to create your maps.
