What! Limper has a gripe?

Hey Creideiki:

You wouldn't happen to be the Lump that Limper lacked the nerve to speak to, would you? Just wondering.

Welcome to the boards, no matter who you are.

Correction: I spoke to the Lump... on MANY occasions. The fact this post worked out the way it did is just pure gravy......

rounser: Now that you mention, it probably not.

Aaron L: Well aside from overacheiving I have been called heartless and cold.... but I am NOT sick. I'm perfectly balanced... my psychiatrist says so.

And I doubt that Creideiki is lump.... that little poem would represent more effort than Lump put forth in 10 years.

Dinkeldog, Henry: Congrats! Gentlemen I hope your time as Mod is a good one.

Tallarn: Dont you just love the smell of carnage! You dont have to get upset to join in.... as soon as you post ANYTHING the crowd goes wild for blood. Its just the nature of the beast.

Frostmarrow: If you dont understand what annoyed me then it hasn't happened to you... I get annoyed by a lot of injustices and imbalances in the real world not just the game... I can do something about the RL subset.

Name one sport that NOBODY watches which supports professional athletes.
Ummm, maybe....bowling? :p

Wow! My 200th post and I made a joke! And people say I'm uptight! Sheesh!

Edit: 200th post thing.

A player who shows up for D&D and doesn't role play has shown up for the wrong game.

A player who shows up for D&D and role plays has the right general idea.

A player who goes the extra mile to make the game even more fun and exciting deserves a reward.

The first should not be there, the second deserves the standard award, and the third deserves a bonus award. That is the way of nearly everything in life. Anyone who doesn't get a bonus for extra effort and didn't try to do so has no right to complain about it.

Those who do try, but did not get the extra award should try harder next time.

Those who do nothing and expect an award for it are living in a bigger fantasy world than D&D.
It's obvious you've never been exposed to the culture of the US Postal Service! Or the career military, for that matter. In these cultures, people who try harder make their lives harder. It's a real bummer for us drones! :(

Well it seems that I'm arriving late to this thread. I also disagree with the 3E XP system. I dropped it completely and created my own, which provides NO XP for killing monsters. I base my system around the SESSION it self and the entertainment it provides. My system is designed to level up every 5-9 sessions. I give a base amount for each player showing up and sharing their valuable time with the group. The rest of the XP is made up of bonuses and penalties, mostly bonuses. For bonuses I count good role-playing (attempting counts), bringing beverages, bringing snacks, arriving early, and providing transportation to other gamers who are in constant need of a ride. For penalties I consider arriving late (1 hour or more w/o good reason (i.e. work, family)), bad role-playing (obvious meta-gaming, lengthily OOC distractions). Of course there are those that attempt to "abuse" this system, as with any other. To them I say " go ahead, abuse it. The result is the game session starting on time, plenty of snacks and drinks, and attempts at good role-playing. We have multiple DMs here that use this and we love it. If any one would like to look at it, I have it in an Excel file. Just drop me an e-mail.

Good gaming all.

Silverthrone: I am, according to the tests, a genius. When I did virtually no work for my first year university exams, including for one module reading the book the course was based on for the first time only the day before the exam, I got a good 2/1 even on that little effort. But, according to you, because I like the fact that 3rd edition provides the rules for lots of situations that the previous editions just didn't cover, I'm a slack-jawed idiot who can't handle rpg's properly?

Don't deny it! We know the truth Chris! ;)
