For me, it would be Hit Dice. I see a lot of design space for Hit Dice, but the problem is the idea of it competing with Hit Dice used for recovery after a short rest.

Exhaustion is a second one for me.

What would it be for you?
I’d second both of those! A lot of unused design space there.

It would also be cool to see more creative uses of the spellcasting system, like we see with the warlock.

Do you have any specific thoughts??
I'd favor a spellcaster using only cantrips, but with battlemaster-like magic maneuvers to boost their cantrips effect.

Maybe even use the increasing/decreasing die size they tested with some of the psionic archetypes.

I think that be cool for a sorcerer: at-will magic with few effect spike at the risk of exhaustive themselves.

I’d like to see some classes use classic Vancian preparation. A class built around point-based casting instead of spell slots would be really cool too. I mean the spell point variant in the DMG is one thing, but that’s just a conversion of the standard spell slot progression; I think a class built from the ground up for point based casting would be awesome. I also have this dream of a casting class that emulates Magic: the Gathering: true Vancian fire-and-forget casting; prepare 7 spells after a long rest; prepare 1 additional spell after a short rest; if you ever have more than 7 spells prepared after a rest, choose 7 to keep and forget the rest.

Ooh! Good ones!

You can replace one attack with a cantrip (the Bladesinger ability). Only one official subclass has that ability, it should be a staple of gish-type subclasses.

Sneak attack type abilities, or at least classes getting one attack with a bonus damage rider, instead of Extra Attack.
