So, with the announcement in World and Monsters that Bronze and Brass dragons are being replaced by Iron and Adamantine dragons, there seems to be a lot of disagreement over which metallic dragons should be in the Monster Manual. So, please vote for your five favorite metals that would make good metallic dragons.

Why don't you make it a poll with the five traditional metals, Iron, Adamantine, Mithril, Mercury and Tin, and get people to choose any five?

I'm okay with alloys, I guess, but my fab five would be Gold (ancient: Orichalcum), Silver (ancient: Mithril), Copper (ancient: Dunno. Maybe Bronze :p), Iron (ancient: Adamantine), and Lead (ancient: Lodestone).

:)

I want no metals at all. Not a sausage.
I just want Dragons, with the big D. Individual creatures with specialized suites of abilities. So you can have an extra-flamey traditional dragon, asian dragons, frost dragons, swamp dragons or what have you. If they're going to change them, might as well drop the concept of the Shiny-Shiny dragons vs. the Rainbow dragons. (Even if it isn't necessarily vs. anymore)

I know this poll really isn't designed to encompass my view, and that's fine- my view doesn't fit. But I'm going to post it in the comments anyways. :-)

I don't like metallic dragons. I don't like any sort of symmetry-based game design. Just because you have a Silver Dragon doesn't mean you need a dragon for every other metallic color. In my view, dragons should be designed based on a theme for the individual dragon, not to fill out a color wheel.

So I'm voting for Adamantine and Mercury. That doesn't precisely represent my opinion, since my opinion is that metallic dragons, along with colored dragons, should be dropped entirely in favor of dragons of unrelated, but more solid theme. But Adamantine and Mercury each make sense for a theme. An Adamantine Dragon could be a huge, blocky beast with scales literally made out of Adamantine. You know, fill out the "steel dragon" archetype, but with a D&Dism. The Mercury dragon on the other hand could be a thin, lightning fast dragon, perhaps an asian styled one without wings but which flies magically at incredible speeds.
