What monster killed your first PC?

It was the summer of 83, right before I started high school. Had a first level fighter with dreams of becoming a Bard. 1st edition and the adventure was Keep on the Borderlands. Party came up to the first encounter, 3 orcs. I lost inititive and one longsword stroke later, poor Antallies was gone. Never even got to draw his weapon. Not sure why I remember it so well.

Green slime, hidden in a potion bottle with a potion of healing floating on top of it.

No way you can scrape or burn that away after swallowing it....

A slaad of some sort... killed half the group....

We were, like, level 4 at the time, and none of us knew what we were doing. Evidence: I was playing an ORC MAGE.

killed by an insane sadistic immortal Dragon - fed to rot grubs or slowly lowered into a vat of acid while being set on fire. The dragon had a name which has been mercifuly forgotten. I was probably an elf named Skywise. My first multiple session char the magic-user TeseR surrvived to ripe old age retriring at 30th lvl after killing Tiamat. (differernt DM)

In a 2e game, I lost my first PC (a halfling thief) to a human barbarian. Oh wait, he was a party member! I was grappled by a big guy and the barbarian critically missed.

I don't remember my first character much, but I do remember my best friend's father's character in high school. My best friend was the DM of the group and he had finally talked his dad into gaming with us to show him that it wasn't "evil". To make things simple for him, he gave him a fighter character to play. I don't remember the adventure, or exactly how it went but it was something like this....

DM: In front of you there is a door with magical writing scrawled around the door frame.

DM's Dad: I step forward and pull the door open.

DM: As you grab the door handle, an electrical shock runs through your body. <rolls some dice> You take 14 points of damage.

DM's Dad: WHAT! I got killed by dang door!!!! How is anyone supposed to play this game. I quit, you all have fun. <wanders off to the living room to watch TV and occasionally make comments that we should avoid any other doors in the dungeon>.

For the next couple months he would bring the subject of that door up anytime we got together to game at his house
