D&D 5E What Monster Would You Save

Volo's Guide to Monsters includes creatures called the "grung" that are Greyhawk critters from late 1e or early 2e. The latest D&D podcast says they were added by Chris Lindsey, as each member of the design/ D&D team got to add a few choice monsters to the process and save one from being axed. Mr Lindsey saved the grung.
(Odd choice. Not a fan. But I'm sure he's happy, so I can't fault it.)

For fun, if you were suddenly on the D&D team and could pitch any 5 monsters for a forthcoming monster book (Volo's Guide to Even More Monsters) what monsters would you add?

Which monster would you save from being cut? From your list or another poster's?

I'd add skum, gibberings, afanc, caryatid columns, and jann.

I'll have to see some stuff that's on the chopping block if I need to pick one to save.

My "one for saving" is easy: Spellweavers.

I don't really have a short list of 5 to pitch - I'd have to dig through my collection, which is currently boxed for transit.

Scourge and catastrophic dragons. Some of the coolest new monsters to come out of 4E, and--to me--infinitely more interesting than gem dragons or most of the other new varieties of dragons introduced over the years.

A lot of my favorites have already been converted, either in the MM, Volo's Guide, or the various APs, so I'm going to have to think about some of my deeper cuts. However, I have to say, that I loved the results of the systems used to select monsters in Volo's guide. I'd rather have idiosyncratic personal choices in my monster books because I think D&D is at it's best when it's idiosyncratic (and for the record, I like grippli a lot).

Did they actually release the scourge dragons in 4e? I know they talked about them at length, but I don't recall if they came out.

Totally agree about the catastrophic dragons and the linnorms (which I think the scourge dragons were supposed to be, and I think I like scourge dragons better as a name), though. I think both would fit in well with 5e.

Since non-angel celestials seems to tend towards being mounts (although the find steed doesn't let you summon them, it does suggest a nice epic boon), it seems like that could be an option to bring in the shedu and the lammasu, instead of competing with sphinxes to be guardian types.
