What monsters should be in a sequel to Tome of Horrors?

YES YES YES!

*checks to make sure there's no Herbal Essenses around*

Oh, and Erica, the key to the Bionoid (I have my version of it in my computer somewhere, since it was needed for an old villain from 2e I'm bringing back in 3e) is not using any Guyver material in the anime. Just use what was in the original file, and you're less likely to be admitted to a psyche ward. :D

Now- the question becomes would a sequel to the Tome of Horrors be called "The Return to the Tome of Horrors"???

Of course!

For what its worth I would like to shock you all by saying I'd like to see some monsters with Challenge Ratings above 20. Possibly the Diseased Eight (I am sure Gary would be forthcoming). Also remember of course that it won't be long now before the Epic and Deity Rules enter the SRD, so a half-dozen epic monsters and a god or two wouldn't go amiss either. ;)

Also I think what could really help such a book is a number of interesting Templates. I was very impressed by the template section in Savage Species.

Additionally a list of monsters by typical location would be useful. As well as a list of monsters by type (to accompany the de rigeur monsters by Challenge Rating list).

Yeah- UK, a list of monsters by Type. I wish I'd done that for the Tome. Monsters by location...you mean Terrain Type? Like the old MM2 1e for example? That would be most handy as well. Might have to remember that one. :D

Monte Cook's Book of Hallowed Might contains "Blessed Children" who are basically that (actually, they are meant to be the contrary of undead, the innocent souls that are not yet born, but they look rather like the baby-esque cherubs).

Hmmm...what is their hp and CR? Where can I find Monte Cook's Book of Hallowed Might on the net?

It looks like one of the SJ monster designers was an anime fan ...

As well as of kaiju (giant monster) films. The Gamaroid barely even tries to be different from its source of inspiration (Gamara). And those undead bugs are so close to mechs...

Spelljammer had a Gamera? I respect it even more now.:D
Actually, back OT, a few quasi-kaiju really, really big monsters (original creations, probably) should be in ToH2.
And what ever happened to the zaratan?

Demiurge out.

Well, an issue of Dragon from a while back had a kaiju template, along with some other stuff to support it. That mostly takes the place of the Gargantua from the old Monstrous Manual. The Zaratan would be good to see again though.

And there was more than one Gamaroid in Spelljammer. They were a non-unique monster.

Yeah, Alzrius, I know about the kaiju template. Right now I'm using it as a guideline to converting actual Godzilla kaiju into DnD stats. I'd just like to see something more OGL. Like the actual Gargantuas, perhaps.

Demiurge out.
