D&D: Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. ;)

Warhammer: either Classical music, or Heavy Metal. or if you really feel like going nuts, whip out that Metallica album where they played with a symphony and combined the genres. ;)

I sometimes play that little ditty from CNN news when my player makes a successful Gather Information check.

Getting little music clips from Gilligans island for funny moments, and buzzer and bell sounds from Wheel of Fortune makes for some interesting moments as well.

The theme from Jaws..always...when the players encounter a Land Shark. I don't even mind when they know what's coming. It's too late anyway :)

Well, in my d20 Warhammer game I ran last night we had Marilyn Manson on in the background as the party took part in an assault on a Tzeentch cult in Middenheim (an offshoot of the Purple Hand cult). It was just what happened to be in the cd player but seemed apt for the situation :)

Seems like the Conan soundtrack is a favorite. it's mine.

and believe it or not, the soundtracks from Warcraft I and II go over pretty well.

Music we play during our game?

Louis Armstrong & His Hot Five/Seven
anything by The Beatles
Dead Can Dance
Love Spirals Downwards
Cocteau Twins
John Lee Hooker
Nena
Pop Will Eat Itself
Carmina Baruna
Gypsy Kings
various "ethnic" music (taiko, djembe, gnawa, gamelon)

In other words, whatever anyone wants to play at a given moment

We don't really use music as a soundtrack to the game, as that would require as much work as was put in on the LotR soundtrack -- we just play music...
