What nostalgic movie would you love to see remade/revisted?

Ok, this thread is intended to be a companion to Dark Jezter's 'Movies that take you back' thread. Here you will post 1 or 2 movies you would like to see remade or revisted.

I don't mean Special Editions or Director's Cuts. I mean new films based on old classics.

For me, I'd love to see a sequel of The Last Starfighter, with modern special effects. I remember Clash of the Titians... vaugely. But I think it would be prime for a remake.

Cheers!

A remake of Clash of the Titans using modern-day special effects would be very cool indeed.

For my own picks of nostalgia-inspiring movies that could be remade or revisited... I wouldn't mind seeing a good sequel to Willow (not the crappy novel sequels). A live-action remake of Transformers: The Movie would also be cool (and yes, I know that a live-action Transformers movie is already in the works).

Transformers is coming out as a live action movie ... last I heard it's being produced by Speilburg

I think there are too many unnecessary remakes being made as it is. If someone is going to do a remake, it should be done with a mind to being significantly different in perspective, setting, or something to make it a significantly different movie. I think remaking Clash of the Titans with CG special effects instead of the stop-motion animation would be a pretty pointless change. Rewriting the whole screenplay, improving the story, re-storyboarding the whole thing from scratch would probably be the minimum necessary for doing a remake of a film.

Gladiator was a pretty good remake of Fall of the Roman Empire but it also changes much of the focus of the story (and certainly changes the end). But can anyone explain why anyone thought remaking Psycho would be a good idea? Or Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?
Hollywood retreads too many ideas as it is.
