D&D 5E What Should I Play pt 2

Legend
The big day creeps closer and about to create a new PC for 5E which we have not played for a bit due to RL issues and some 2E goodness. I may have to play 2 PCs until one player gets back so I roilled two stat arrays.

Both above the default array, but I am thinking of playing something non standard like a mountain dwarf Sorcerer with 20 strength. Not optimal perhaps but the stats are above the curve so I am not really giving up much and a 20 charisma half elf or something is a bit boring. Other potential PCs are a Druid and Warlock so the Rogue/skirmisher role and warrior roles are kind of open. Game is from level 1.

Other options that interest me are a battlemaster fighter type doing the commander thing (with a rogue I suppose), a dual wielding halfling champion type, kensai monk using a longword. With higher ability scores I do not mind looking at "weaker" feats so if I had a fighter with 16-18 charisma I would be happy with feats like healer, inspiring leader and commander or Eldritch Knight/wizard build.

Doesn't have to be the best, I lean towards party synergy and inter PC combos thatn having the highest damage number or best spell etc. Whatever I pick I like to be good at though (damage, skills, healing, control, buffing etc).

You just looking for mechanics or a mix of mechanics and personality?

Mostly mechanics, I was going to use Xanathars and the PHB to randomly come up with back ground, personality etc. Fan of rolling that up on a table.

Sorcerer with heightened/subtle spell and suggestion is fun. Throw on lucky for some extra social interaction kick.
Almost any kind of rogue with a good personality is loads of fun.
A wizard that focuses on debuffs and out of combat spells. Bladesinger or Divination both are very good.
Your Charisma Fighter works too. I've seen it in action. (It's probably even legal to use the battlemasters charisma dice that gives temp hp on yourself). Take inspiring leader or healer and it's even better.

I've really been wanting to make an Eldritch Knight Fighter that uses the new shadow blade spell (along with shield and absord elements).

I dislike playing clerics.
Barbarians are effective but not nearly as fun IMO.

I generally find clerics boring but 5E ones and 2E specialty priests are fine.

We also allow 3pp and the commander feat is decent.

I'll share a build I enjoyed. I call it the honey-pot rogue. Go fighter 1 rogue X. Her name was llana and she suckered men into revealing to much with her charms and wit. Used a shield, a whip, and the dueling fighting style. Was very enjoyable to role play and 1d4+6 dmg with reach + sneak attack is nothing to scoff at.

Sort of been there done that, in the playtest IIRC.

Current concept.

Divine Soul Sorcerer Emergency Healer/Buffer
Lvl 1
Mountain Dwarf

Cantrips

Greenflame Blade
Guidance
Firebolt/some other ranged cantrip
??

Spells Known
Sleep
Cure

Stats
Strength 18 (or 20?)
Con 18
Dex 15
Charisma 18 (or 16 putting the 18 in strength)
Wisdom 12
Intelligence 11

Feats lvl 4
Magic Initiate (shield or absorb elements)
+2 more ???? cantrips.
or
Healer/Inspiring leader

By level 4 I will know absorb elements, bless, shield, cure + 2 level 2 spells if I take the magic initiate feat and 6 cantrips from the Sorcerer or Cleric list.

Wear medium armor, wade into melee with a battleaxe in 2 hands casting GFB and later quickening GFB/bless/haste. Not the best character from a min/max PoV but it won't suck and its a bit different.
