What should my next ringtone be?

Hate to be a Luddite, but how about something that goes "ring ring"? I bought a new phone recently and out of two dozen novelty tones, not one just makes a simple ringing sound. Gagh!

I'm quite used to ringtones by now, but for the love of GOD, if you're not going to set it to vibrate in the office, TAKE IT WITH YOU.

Someone in the office I work at always leaves their phone at their desk, and they're constantly getting calls. A ringtone that doesnt start out as annoying QUICKLY becomes so when you hear it go off 10 times in a row, constantly.

I suggest a ring tone that sounds like a ringing telephone. Since everyone else on earth has a wacky sound effect or irritating song, your plain ringing telephone will be terribly novel.

Not so novel: it is included per default in the SonyEricsson phone of my wife.

I get lots of complements on my "jungle noises". Sounds of Amazon.

Another guy had a couple lines from a Clint Eastwood movie, someone else from a Swedish movie "Jalla Jalla" from the scene where the cop pretends to be shooting at someone (M-r F-r! *bang* *bang* (louder):M-r F-r! *bang* *bang*) Always got a good laugh at the office.

I tried having screeching angry chimpanzee sounds for a ringtone a few years back. My wife made me change it to something else the same day.

  • Joe Friday's phone from Dragnet - a real phone.
  • The Rohan theme from the Lord of the Rings movies.
  • "Flight to the Ford" from Fellowship of the Ring
  • Gollum's "happy song" in front of the waterfall - you think the person on the other end is a bit ... strange.
  • The Shire theme at the beginning of the movie.
  • Expecting good news? Inside "Siegfreid and Brunehilde in the Forest" (15 min orchestral piece from Wagner's Ring Cycle) is a 10-second clip that sounds like Triumphant Victory.
  • Fight of the Fates (better known as Darth Maul's theme)
  • The "Force Triumphant" music at the end of original Star Wars
  • Sia "Chandelier" she sounds like she is in pain and will draw startled attention from everybody in the room
  • Star Trek: The Motion Picture "Enterprise theme" (I don't know the real name): Scotty flies Kirk all around Enterprise before they land aboard and Kirk thinks he is finally coming back home
  • Styx "Blue Collar Man" (current events and topical)
  • Pink Floyd instrumentals
  • Chorus from Def Leppard "Rock Brigade"
