Crothian did it. Well, he had help, but let's just blame Crothian. Originally a meta thread that asked just how long threads were allowed to be (I believe he was worried about a few Shark World threads of his?), that was around GenCon time and the mods and admins were away. So the thread grew beyond what was typical back then. It was closed for length, and new threads sprung up in meta. The Hive got its name from the idea that we are all (or most) just alts of Piratecat, and you could say it was an off-topic forum before there was an off-topic forum. Eventually, the Hivemind was constrained to three meta-threads, and later still was tossed into the light of the General forum as a single thread. Finally, the off-topic forum was created, and the Hive was transplanted here.

How long have you been back? I stopped posting here for all intents and purposes when Circvs Maximvs came online, but have started again because of my academic interest in the marketing of the 4e launch cycle and because I've started playing D&D again.

a bit extra typing, but you could just use the <quote> </quote> hardcoding and just copy and paste what you want to quote from the thread summary that appears below the reply to thread text box...

It's ENWorld's "sister site" that has picked up a lot of the old Nutkinlanders / Nothinglanders and a bunch of older posters from ENWorld who were looking for another venue. It's basically a huge off-topic forum for ENWorld, but also runs on a much smaller set of rules (and allows for discussions of religion and politics).

And for some reason, they gave me a banhammer. I don't use it often, but BOY is it fun.
