can I get rid of all classes and not replace them with anything?
Based on those recent polls, probably not and still be considered D&D. If I remember right, only polyhedral dice and ability scores ranked higher as immutable.

look we are never going to agree with what should or should not be a class so just burn indiscreetly.Based on those recent polls, probably not and still be considered D&D. If I remember right, only polyhedral dice and ability scores ranked higher as immutable.
I could be fine with rolling the cleric into the mage and the fighter and rogue together too. However, I feel that might become to much. I think there is an argument for four:Get rid of cleric too and I’m onboard.
Yeah, rolling dice for your ability scores - when so much depends on your ability scores - just seems dumb/mean/sadistic. Point buy for me!
I'd prefer just Fighter, Rogue, and Caster, with hybrids. Classic clerics can be Fighter/Caster with an acolyte background and healing and buff spells.I could be fine with rolling the cleric into the mage and the fighter and rogue together too. However, I feel that might become to much. I think there is an argument for four:
- an arcane caster
- a divine caster (if you really make those two something different)
- martial fighting class,...
- and a martial skill based class.
Yeah, I just make stuff up. In my current campaign I have two PCs that are "infected", no amount of healing divine or otherwise seems to fix it. Basically when they try it doesn't work and we get the whole "that should have worked" trope."Everything gets better after a nap and perhaps slap in the face by the Paladin."
It's not too hard to kill 5e characters if you put your back into it. Harder than 1e, sure, but in my Temple of Elemental Evil campaign, I killed about 15. What's really hard is imposing any kind of debilitating condition. Disease and injury should be, I don't know...things?
Well, I got rid of rolling for ability scores in my home game back in 2E so apparently I disagree. I don't see the point of rolling dice to tell me who my PC will be.Oh thanks, I was having trouble deciding on something.
I'd get rid of Point Buy.
Yeah I know it's just and option. I spit on that option and condemn it to hell.
