What SuperHero RPG do you play ?

Hero system.

For the flexibility. If I'm not playing DnD, I use the Hero framework. Modern, Supers, Horror etc.

Love it. Actually thought about playing fantasy in my DnD world with it....

My friends and I have been playing Villains & Vigilantes since 1982-83 and still play it today. In 2010 the rules were republished. I ordered a print copy of the 2010 rules from my local gaming store but you can get the pdf here.

Edit: More V&V goodies can be found here and here.

Mutants & Masterminds (3e by choice).

I've looked at the Savage Worlds Super Powers Companion, and it's pretty good. But I'll stick with M&M.

Basic Action Super Heroes (BASH) and ICONS are both popular, but not for me.

I worked up a quick super-powers system for A Song of Ice and Fire RPG. And one for Deadlands: Classic. Both work quite well but I'd rather use M&M.

M&M 3e/DC Adventures (they are the same system) is by far my first choice. HERO is cool, but the system is complex. Still, I own every HERO 5e book published except for a couple and they are easy to convert for use in an M&M game and make fantastic reference material.

ICONS is intriguing because its written by Steve Kenson, but I hate the FATE system and I hate random elements in character generation.

You don't have to follow random generation, by any means. There's even a rule in the book for how to create a character with point buy.

I can understand that FATE isn't to everyone's liking, and ICONS is clearly inspired by the FATE mechanics, but I think it works for this game where I don't think it always works in some other games I've tried out.

Most of my FATE dislikes stems from playing the Dresden Files RPG. My group generally found it clunky and unplayable for a variety of reasons that I won't go into here, and we felt the books were poorly organized (though that's not really a FATE issue).

Mutants and Masterminds 2e is my main game

I also own Icons and want to give it a spin. As someone that started with the original Marvel game and was very active in the web community for it in early days, it looks like the original Marvel Game done right (my opinion, naturally).

Another vote for Mutants & Masterminds; 2e for me, but 3e is fine. It has the right blend of flexibility, simplicity, and customizability for me.

I also like Hero - it was my game if choice for a few years, and I'd play it again. I prefer M&M now though.

GURPS worked for us for semi-gritty "super-soldiers" - where most characters were like Batman or Captain America or the like.

After playing in a convention game, I think Savage Worlds supers might work for a Suicide Squad-type of game. Gritty, potentially very lethal to PCs.
