What to buy?

First Post
I just got a 'QuickThanks' here at work, they are these little electronic gift certificates that we can hand out to people to say thanks for your help... I have two now, at $25 each, and I set them up for Amazon.

What should I get?

These little perks are the source of all my D&D publications (I said when I got my first quickthanks that this money must be spent on frivilous hobby related things!), but I've kinda ran out of books that jump out and say 'You NEED me!"

I think the only books still on my wishlist are complete psion, MM4, and Dragons of Faerun...but I'm not so excited to buy any of those really... Maybe I'll just get a few packs of those new minis.

I obviously need help.

Minis are good. If you don't have Tome of Battle, Complete Scoundrel, or Dungeonscape, I would highly recommend all of htem.

ToB and scoundrel both seem a little too outside the core for most of the groups I play with. Styles and stances and tricks and...most of my grumpy DMs hate new mechanics :(

Dungeonscape looks like something I may want, just as a Burlew fan.

So...what is it? Besides exciting and refreshing and other adjective that are used to describe the product...

"New rules for encounter traps .... For players, the factotum class is .... New equipment, feats, and prestige classes..."

Sounds like a good suggestion...so what for the other $30?

Oldies but goodies:
* Draconomicon
* Manual of the Planes

Somewhat more recent:
* DMG 2
* PH 2
* Spell Compendium

Not books:
* Dungeon Tiles 1
* Dungeon Tiles 2
* Dungeon Tiles 3

You could always get some proper litterature, some books on historical events, places, and such. I find they make good inspirational reading for settings, and provide ideas for happenings IMC. Reality always exceeds fantasy.

Come on, let's not get crazy here...

Josh,
Check, check, check, check, check...dungeon tiles? I guess I don't see the need. Am I missing something?

Good fantasy novels instead of D&D stuff? Some game books to prepare to be GM so you can be the grumpy DM who doesn't like new rule mechanics?

It has:

-one new base class (Factotum)
-two PrCs for PCs, and one for NPCs
-two new creatures (one plant, one swarm) and a few templates
-a handful of hazards and traps
-only about five or six feats
-a bit of equipment
-information on "packing for a dungeon"
-information for DMs on designing a dungeon and using one
-some very nice alternate class features -- including a Ranger with Trapfinding!
-three affiliations

It does not have:

-spells
-environment-themed deities
-a sample dungeon

Upon first read, I was quite impressed -- but it seems a little shallow in retrospect, especially when compared to other environment books like Sandstorm and Frostburn. This is probably a byproduct of the fact that this is an environment book for an environment that occurs so frequently -- there's no need to come up with a lot of new things because a lot of ground has already been covered.

I picked up Dungeonscape yesterday and got about half way through it last night-this is one of the better D&D purchases I've made in the last couple of years.
