Every character option in the game, be it PHB, 3rd party, or UA, is under the "I might reconsider if it causes a problem" umbrella for me.

I agree with you but if the issue is core it is a lot more hassle to fix. I play with a long term group of friend so I might, initially, go with a, "go easy on the cheese there lads" for official stuff. I do not mined some cheese occasionally but not all cheese all the time.

You have to realize that by doing that you're potentially not allowing them into said hardbacks, right?

All of them, unless they’ve been superseded. For instance the Favoured Soul in Xanthar’s replaces the UA version. The class variants ranger supersedes the revised ranger... etc etc

"Allow" is a strong word. But I'm open to anything.

If one of my players come to me with an idea for a character build, and part of that character build relies on material in Unearthed Arcana, I'd probably let the player use it. As long as it fits the setting/story, and as long as the player is cool with me making changes to it now (or later) as needed, we're golden.
