What was the best moment of Gen Con for you?

For me, my best moment at Gen Con this year (my first, surprisingly) was getting to RPG using the Savage Worlds system and not just read and hear about it.

BTW, if you are into superhero role-playing, I highly recommend checking out Necessary Evil coming from Pinnacle/Great White games in the near future. It was a blast, especially using the Savage Worlds system. :D

Getting to meet Monte Cook and hopelessly ask if he had time to play in a game over the course of the con. Monte if you happen to read this, I seriously hope I didn't go completely fanboy :heh:

Getting to meet a few folks who I'm not certain if they're on Enworld, gaming with them, and then going to the Ram for dinner. Seriously good stuff.

Hearing that a bunch of Shadowrun folks got bounced from at least two bars for drunk and disorderly. (If anyone knows the whole story, please do share. There was also something about a dodgeball fight I heard rumors about?)

My favorite parts of the con included the oppurtunity to read as Bob for the Knights of the Dinner Table live reading, meeting Sean Reynolds and getting to play in his Forgotten Realms LARP and chatting it up Wayne Reynolds at the WotC booth (he took a picture of my cloak as a reference for a future painting). Also, getting felt up by a cute goth chick in the art room was fun. ;)

I got to meet many game designers and managed (I believe) to avoid going totally fan-boy on them (though I vaguely recall babling incoherently at Monte Cook at his booth).

Meeting so many EN Worlders that I hadn't met in person before, and seeing so many again that I had met a couple of years ago.

Definately meeting everyone that I have talked to online. From EnWorlders, to Ne(cr)omancer Games staff, to goodman games, assorted celebs like Arneson, etc...

The most memorable moment had to be trying to get in line for Bob Salvatore (to get a book signed for a friend's birthday!) on Saturday...

...only to be rejected by the Wizards guy at the end holding a cheap styrofoam sign which read "I'm the last in line"...

...only to be told minutes later by his boss that if I held the sign, I could get in line, but I had to turn others away...

...only to sneak two guys books in to my own hands, making them two damn happy fanboys...

...only to watch as the cute WotC employee who joined me later let one other guy sneak in front of me...

...and getting all the way up there, having Bob sign my friends present, and then having him sign the crappy sign I held the whole time with "And a great end it was".

Bob is one cool guy.

The best moment this year was probably running a Cthulhu game late Saturday night for some of my pals on Nutkinland. They were awesome. The best time ever would have been back in 1995 (my first GenCon) where I won the Illuminati New World Order tournament!
