What would be your D&D ability scores? Peer assignment!

First Post
Hello everybody! I posted a similar thread on the WotC messageboards, which you can find here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=351301&page=1&pp=30

However, seeing the thread on 'rate your own stats' I thought that it may be a good idea to post it here too. :)

I have seen several posts with questionnaires for determining what you D&D stats would be. They were fun. How about this though: We, other gamers, can collectively ascertain what your D&D stats would be based on what you tell us about yourself - feel free to post any information (anecdotal or otherwise) that would be relevant. You can 'cheat', of course, but you would be only cheating yourself.

Let the judgement begin!

In the other thread, I was criticized for asking other people for descriptions so that people on the board can judge their stats yet not posting my own description. To avoid the same criticism here and inspire confidence in the thread I will not make the same mistake and post my own description.

I am about 178-179 cm tall (about 5'9") and weight approximately 75-80 kilograms (it varies but stays in this range). I am lean but definitely not skinny. I eat a lot, but my weight seems unaffected despite my current lack of sporting activities. I suppose standing 8-10 hours (depending on whether I have lectures that day or not) a day every day including weekends in my job might have something to do with it...

I perceive myself as very clumsy and others around me see me in the same way. In fact, I am the clumsiest person I know and have ever known to the best of my recollection. My handwriting is quite difficult to read and I write very slowly and make many mistakes that I then need to cross out and correct. I type much faster, but most likely still too slowly in comparison to how fast I should be typing considering how long I have been using a computer for word processing. I was never good at any sports requiring hand-eye coordination and quick reactions. I can also say that I also loose against any of my friends when playing any computer game that requires quick reactions.

Just to give you an idea, here is an anecdotal story that I already posted in another thread and now copied here. Two days ago while working my 10 hour shift at a fast food outlet to pay for my tuition fees, I managed to: throw the $2,500 credit/debit card machine on the ground and broke it (luckily it was easily fixable...), spill food on the floor from a container while carrying it, make several mistakes with the cash machine (at least 3 - I do not remember precisely), spill food multiple times while serving customers, make some of our pop drinks fall from their stack twice and probably made several more minor mistakes that I no longer pay any attention to. I did this despite having worked at the place for many months already (I am guessing they have not fired me yet because I am generally a likable person and polite to the customers...) and despite working more slowly than any other person who works there. I should mention that although that day was particularly bad, other days I am not well coordinated either.

Nonetheless, despite the clumsiness my ligament/tendon/muscular flexibility is probably somewhat above average. I can do splits, or can touch the ground with the palms of my hands and go down a further 10-15cm (4-6 inches) while standing without bending my legs. My bones and joints, however, are quite large and thick. My accuracy/aim is definitely above average - I am definitely a good shot with a rifle or a pistol - mainly because I can easily hold steady.

I can do about 40 push-ups (nose touching the ground to when arms bent), but that is the absolute limit - beyond that no amount of willpower enables me to push myself up again. Once upon a time I used to do swimming and cross-country running and was pretty good at it too (was one of the best on the school team in swimming and in the top 5% of my school in running), but that time is long past (4 years ago now). Nowadays, I do not participate in any sports whatsoever with the exception of the occasional hike in the mountains, some skiing and some cycling, but these are all infrequent and irregular. I recently ran a mile (1.609 kilometers) and my time was 5 minutes and 6 seconds - I have no clue whether that is below or above average. The maximum that I have gone without nourishment (though I still drank water) was three days (it was not by choice - more like that after paying my tuition I was incredibly short of money until my next paycheck, so I had to eat once every several days for a few weeks). The maximum that I have gone without sleep was two consecutive nights (three nights if brief naps/blackouts do not count as sleep). I have not been ill (I am also counting minor illnesses such as a cold or a flu) for about 2 years now and going about 5 years back I have only had minor illnesses. When I was a kid, though, I used to be ill very often with tensilitis (I think that is the name of the disease in English). I have had chickenpox when I was 3. Apart from that I never had any major illness. I do not have any allergies that I am aware off.

Hmm, onto mental abilities or lack thereof. I have never taken an IQ test, so that is not helpful here. The only standardized test I have taken was the SAT in which I got 1510 (780 on Math and 730 on Verbal) with no prior studying and preparation, because at the time no materials for that were available in my country. I am good at recognising patterns whether they are numerical, or spatial or social. As far as languages go, I speak Slovak, Czech, English and with a much lower level of proficiency also German, Polish and Russian. As to my memory, I have a very good memory for associations, but a poor memory for names. My grades have always been good (the maximum - grading systems differ in different countries I have lived in) and I have always been a good student. Both of my universities gave me scholarships, though I still have financial problems, since considering the low wages in my country, these scholarships are unfortunately insufficient enable me to finish university in the West without also simultaneously working fulltime. I enjoy reading about, learning about and discussing the natural sciences, politics, economics, sociology, history and just about all other areas of human inquiry. I am good both at mathematics and writing, but I do not find mathematics too interesting unless it is applied to a specific problem I want to solve and in any case I am better at writing than at mathematics (please do not judge me on the basis of my writing in this post done at 3:00 am and without subsequent proofreading - I never bother to proofread or spell check my posts on any boards).
I am definitely not bull-headed or strongly set in my views except on a couple of issues and usually like to consider new or opposing points of view. Socially, I am quite shy and quiet. I control myself at all times and am very calm. I have never had a girlfriend. In fact, I have never even asked anybody out - I am simply too shy to do that. I do not go to parties and do not drink alcohol (or smoke) at all. I am very polite, perhaps overly so in some situations. I am good at reading what others think of me, but I am not good at conveying what I think of them without explicitly stating it. I am also very good at persuading people to do something. I do not have many friends, but this can partially be accounted for by the fact that I move a lot and by the time I make friends in one place I generally move somewhere else.

Sure. No way this could turn ugly.

I suppose it could, but it certainly did not on the other thread. I would guess people on ENWorld are at least as capable as those on WotC board not to turn it ugly.

Roman I'd say Strength 12, Dex 9, Con 10, Int+wis no idea, Cha 10.

I'm 15, I weigh 60-63 Kg and am 1.75 metres tall, in imperial measurments thats 9 Stone, 12 pounds and 5'11. I would say I wasn't specially stong, maybe slightly weak even. I don't have a lot endurance, but it isn't less then average, I can run fine, even having been asthmatic. I have a high pain threshhold, I don't not feel it, I just ignore it. I can also pitch in a bit of will power when running endurance and other activities like that. I'm getting better at that stuff though, which is nice. I rarely get ill, barring allergies, but when I do it's bad, whats more is, the last time I was ill I took it in my stride, 40 Degrees in celcius, I was watching TV, whilst shaking and sweating but watching TV none the less. I have poor eye-hand, but I like to think I have good reflexes (once stopped an apple hitting a friend etc.), I'm quite flexible, except in the legs where it hurts to hold them straight and sit up; I always crossed my legs as a child.

I can have an aweful memory, sometimes not remembering ever hearing it. I leave my bag behind at school, when I was younger I would sometimes run up the stair to get something for someone and then shout back asking what it was again. I can though learn things quite well, I'm always spouting random facts. I'm said to be top of my class in maths, english and science. But I completly lack common sense, neat handwriting or ANY COMMON SENSE, seriously. In my repetoire of silly things, I have drunk fat frier oil, put milk into a soda stream machine and, laugh as much as you like, done the "Why isn't water comming out of this pipe, I know, I'll look down it!" mistake. I have no objection to standing out, and talking to others relaxedly, but usually when the topic turns to me I can shut up. I blurt things out sometimes, but I can say funny things as well.

Thats about it.

I'm fairly sure that considering the average human has all stats between 8 and 12 that mine would be somewhat like this:

STR: 12 (I consider myself at the upper part of average, but still not above it.)

DEX: 10 (I used to be at least 14 when I went clayshooting every week, unfortunately, a life af roleplay and decadency tends to water this skill down.)

CON: 8 (I get sick at least twice a year and can't stand drinking)

INT: 12 (Not above average, I can remember the most useless bits (that's what my wife calls roleplay), but when it comes down to the important stuff I forget everything!)

WIS: 10 (I'm not overly perceptive, but usually what matters doesn't go by unnoticed!)

CHA: 14 (Here, my roleplay training comes in handy, I'm not the most handsome man in the world but I'm not that bad looking either, what's more important, I can talk almost anyone under the table and I'm an insurrance salesman to boot. Oh yesssss, you read it correctly, I 'm the horrible insurance salesman!)

Lets see.

I would not consider myself too strong, but I can help lift heavy things when required too. And I am pretty sure I can hit pretty hard with my fists when needed too.

I am not very good when it comes to things like cathing a ball, or other stuff like that. I can handle small objects deftly very well though. I can also move very fast despite that fact that I am roughly 200 punds and 5,8. And I have pretty decent reflexes in that I often can move out of the way of something, even while running, or before I even see it. As an example one time when me and my brother were running to the house, there is a gate, and only one of the two sections was open, and we were both running into it. Now there is a little post made out of brick that has a light on it. We are both big guys, but I contorted my body in such a way that I did not hit my side on the post without even thinking about it. Oh, and I can scratch my own back if that counts for anything.

I have allergies and get sick every once in a while. But I can usually tough it out fairly well. I can make myself ignore pain if I concentarte for a bit and dont think about it.

I know a lot about a lot of things , but I suck at a lot of types of math. When I want to, I can think logically, even though I am not a very logical person. I am good at Biology, and can do math related to it last time I checked. I am also good at reading something and picking out what is important too.

I usually remain very calm and do not worry about much. I remain calm even if something bad has happened that would normally warrant going crazy and running all over the place like a chicken with its head cut off. I have a good sense of smell and hearing(most of the time anyways). I really do not hate anyone, and I do not discriminate against others regardess of what they have done or who they are.

I sometimes endear myself to some people, often the "bad" kids at school are very nice to me. I do tend to remain very quiet. I do tend to smile a lot, although it is more of a crooked grin realll, so not many people notice it. I do have a lot of self-confidence in myself, and really do not care what others think about me.

I already strongly resemble Shrek. There's all the ugly we need. :)

Not fair, I already resemble an orge, and *I* even married a girl named Fiona from the land Far, Far Away (ie: Australia). :p
