I think that is what the starter box is going to be for.
I wouldn't mind even paying $60 as long as it is a complete phb, no matter how cheap I will abstain for getting an incomplete one even if it costs $15 or less.

I answered "nothing", but if they must change something, I'd be OK with cutting higher level content, and with black and white interior art. More of this would be fine by me:

I would prefer to have the high level content in the original books. Partly because I want to ensure that high level play has been well integrated into the maths and types of spells and monsters etc available at high levels (as in 4th ed, but not in some earlier editions). Partly because campaigns I play normally get to high level and also because I really want to know how a character concept is going to end up before I start.

I get what your saying.

Personal preference, I don't see a need for say more than 10 base levels and maybe 5 as epic.

I do think you could balance the game ahead of time, and addind levels later wouldn't ruin anything.

I think epic 4e would have been even more valanced and all around better if they held off on it until later.

I think you could leave out Wisdom and Dexterity. And the secret stuff about the "secondary DM." Then we'd have an affordable PHB.

Personally having some black and white art wouldn't bother me too much, even though I much prefer color.

But I already love D&D.

I'm not sure how feasible black and white is in the greater context of trying to entice new people into the game.

I wouldn't buy a product with black and white art. I avoided all the 3rd party products with black and white art during the 3e era as well.

Get rid of colour. Too many artists use it as a crutch and having to put the colours in with one's mind's eye starts the imagination process IMHO.

It is a rule book, not an art book so it doesn't need to be inundated with art. Especially wasteful splash pages.

Ditch the glossy paper. Nice dry paper is easier to read.

I'm actually fine with the price rumoured tag, but if forced to reduce the costs I vote for:

High Level Stuff: Personally, I probably won't use it anyway. Leaving it out wouldn't reduce the usablity of the book for the first several months, the higher levels could possibly enjoy some more testing, and, finally, if the masses detect some 'problems' with the rules, these could perhaps be fixed in time.

Art Work Originality: No need to have only all-new pictures or each picture being used only once in the book. If one would decide to take artwork from the archives, one would of course need a very good and strict art direction.

Not to fussed about original art work, colour pages, glossy paper, levels 21+ (or even 15+), sub classes, more than 11 or so classes, and any race not in the 1st ed/3rd ed PHB.

The artwork starts the mind imagining. I'd prefer to see it stay.

I'm fine with the price point in any case, so I hope they prune nothing and deliver the best PHB they can.
