What would you like to see for 2006 on ENWorld?

I'm not a highly product-focused guy. I purchase RPG supplements very rarely. As a result, the non-forums part of ENWorld don't do much for me. If I had a wish it would be weekly opinion columns about gaming. Currently, we have a news section and a reviews section but the news section isn't really like news articles; it's more akin to wire service feeds.

I'd like to see some weekly or monthly gaming roundup and opinion columns in the news or reviews area. That way I'd visit other parts of the site a whole lot more and I think some of the columns could be great jumping-off points for thread discussion and vice versa (ie. some threads could form the basis of columns).

I, personally, am interested in more indepth review and analysis of the hobby in all its forms.

How about this?

As things currently stand, when a very long thread appears on the front page, it gives options for pages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, (or thereabouts) and then "...last page."

I'd like for that "last page" notation to be replaced with the actual page number. When trying to follow a long and fast-growing thread, it's frustrating to click on "last page" only to discover that you've missed two pages of comments since the last time you were there. A page number would tell us how far things have progressed since previous visits.

It is now possible to add mods to your ignore list.

However, do so at your peril. If you don't see a mod's instructions because you've ignored him, that's too bad. We won't accept that as an excuse. With the hosted forum mods, etc., you shouldn't have any such problems.

Beats me. The last time I saw Stealth, I couldn't even see what threads I've posted in.

I would vote to keep stealth as stealthy as possible...

*shrug* I'm not advocated the Stealth mode that's there now to just disappear. I am advocating for a Stealth mode that's actually useful (as noted in my previous post).

It's probably a conscious decision, but when replying to a person quoting me, it's be really handy to have my original material that they quoted be in there.

As it is, it's a pain to quote sometimes, everything is just tossed togethor, making it hard to tie the context togethor.

I also prefer Page Number to "Last Page", so you can see how much reading you have to do and decide if it's worth the trouble.

Oh, and maybe an option that llimits which pages you can quote from in a long thread? If there's 20 pages, and someone quotes from the first page with "I haven't read the rest, but..." it's just silly. Make them work for it by having to copy/paste and put quote tags on themselves.
Limiting them to only being able to quote the last 4 pages or something.

Also, you should have a feature preventing specific posters from posting to specific threads. If someone is always trolling in 4e threads, "ban" them from 4e threads.
("We're sorry X, you can't post to a thread with 4e in the title. We've all heard your opinion by now.")

Here's something else, change the graphics on the sblock, so it just shows the button. I've seen this done on this site, a glitch or a test(I don't know)... It looked alot better than the current ones.

Personally I would appreciate a far more user friendly search function for reviews.

The ability to search by title, publisher or reviewer...all on the front page of the review section.

That would be a great time saver.

General query - I'm taking notes for my ENWorld activities next year. What would you like to see done on the technical side of ENWorld (features, sections, etc)?

I would like EN World to auto-delete every new thread with "4e" or "4th edition" in the title.

I'd like to see a views count on reviews. I for one would like to know if anyone bothers to read any of the reviews I write.
