I typically don't listen to music at home anymore. When I lived alone I would, but now that I'm married, any type of music would drown out what my wife is saying to me from the other room, and I don't want to open any cans of worms about that. I listen almost all day at work from Talk Radio, to movie soundtracks (I currently have the Star Wars sage, the Indiana Jones trilogy, Lord of the Rings, and the first three Harry Potter soundtracks on a regular rotation) to Jimmy Buffett and some country music. Since meeting my wife, I've REALLY come to appreciate Jimmy Buffett and have become a borderline Parrothead.

It ain't a listening preference. It's a lifestyle choice. ;)

Are you talking about Negativland's "U2"? that's great!

Today, it's nothing but The Rolling Stones for me. And then tonight after work, I walk across UVA to the football stadium and see them live!

You got that right. Since I started listening to Buffett regularly, I've felt much more laid back. Though, I've never been looking for a shaker of salt while I'm wasted away in Margaritaville.

That's pretty cool. I collected a lot of movie soundtracks, mostly for background music for my D&D game, but I found myself listening to them a lot just because they're pretty cool.

I have the Star Wars, but I don't have them in my D&D rotation, though--too recognizable.

At the moment, the pile of CDs next to my PC consists of the following music:

Nightwish - Once
Midnattsol - Where Twilight Dwells
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Opeth - Deliverance
Loreena McKennit - The Mask and the Mirror
Evanescence - Fallen
Leaves' Eyes - Vinland Saga
Thomas Tallis - Spem in Alium (Chior of King's College, Cambridge)

Disturbed: Ten Thousand Fist in the Air. Dig the title track and Deify but don't like their version of Land of Confusion. Always keep seeing the old Genesis video in my head.

I thought the new Disturbed was pretty bad all around. Couple of ok songs but nothing that would warrant a repeat listen.

I'm listening to the new Fiona Apple now. It's very good. I'm a Fiona fan. :D
