Whatever happened to the world of the WOTC campaign contest?

You know, I'm getting impressed with diaglo's knowledge of 3E - I think he's had to play in too many sessions of a game he doesn't like.

With reference to the new campaign setting - there is one very good reason it hasn't been released yet: 3.5E

Once the furor about 3.5E has died down, they can start concentrating on the First Official 3.5E New Setting!

I think the primary reason Wizards did the "World Search" contest, was so they could get thousands of great ideas they themselves can use in the future.
There just had to be some bait for people to really submit some great ideas for them.

Given that WotC only got about 11,000 submissions, it is hard to see where those "thousands of great ideas" might come from...

Given that ideas are a dime a dozen (the difficult part being polishing such ideas into a publishable form) this would have been incredibly silly for WotC to do.

Sure. I don't have an NDA. I'm also not involved in the playtest (although a number of my friends are). If I wasn't taking the Bar Exam this summer, I'd be trying to get into the game.

My knowledge is very limited. However, having worked with Keith on 2 computer games at VR-1 (our mutual former employer), I can tell you that I'm very excited about his setting.

Keith is an amazing designer. His worlds are unique places where your traditional notions of genre find themselves turned upside down. They're places filled with intrigue and politics.

I realize this is kind of vague, but I'm working from my experiences with other games he's done. I'm also working around NDAs for those games.

They're awesome.

Well, that and Keith did have to write an entire story bible for his world so that WotC's writers would have everything they needed to work off of.
