Spleen

I lost mine in a motorcycle accident when I was 16, I spent a month in the hospital with two weeks of that being in intensive care. My docotr explained it to me this way:
He told me to think of it as part of my imune system and as one of the major organs that filters your blood, and that without it I would have to take medicine to help supplement my immune system. Since this happened I get sick alot easier and more often than most people, the boosters I used to take helped very little.
But you can live without it, and even with getting sicker easier and such my quality of life has been decent.
I do however have a tendency to worry when I hear of new viruses and such like that pnuemonia thing from Hong Kong.

Ejja, I am very sorry to hear you were in such a serious accident. I am glad to hear you feel you still have a decent quality of life.
