What's going on with these new cartoons?

I've got short-term access to the Cartoon Network, and am watching all these new cartoons. But they're bringing up troubling questions.

For instance, Justice League: Since when can Wonder Woman kick Superman's butt? I just watched two episodes of the Hades series, and Diana wiped the floor with Kal-El...

Transformers: Armada: Since when is Starscream a GOOD GUY?!?! Good grief, they turned Dinobot into a good guy in Beast Wars, now they have to repeat the formula?

Argh, there was a third one I noticed, but my memory is spotty. :)

So what other inconsistencies are there?

Heretic,

Would like to point out that Starscream STILL retains his evil streak. Just now he feels that with the Autobots, his chances of survival are better. (Especially since now he's considered a traitor. That is keeping within his character.)

Because over the years, she's gotten stronger and he's gotten weaker. The DCHeroes game puts them fairly close to one another; Wonder Woman's Physique is a 33, Superman's in a 35. In the cartoon they seem roughly equal to one another in the strength/invulnerability thing.

For comparison purposes:

31D: Captain Marvel Jr., Mary Marvel
33D: Black Adam, Captain Marvel, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman
34D: Brahma, Cyborg
35D: Doomsday, General Eiling, Superman
36D: Orion

Wonder Woman is definitely capable of giving Superman a good fight. Remember, she's a trained warrior, and he's not. But as for her kicking his butt in the cartoon, he was trying NOT to hurt her, and wasn't even really fighting back.

At a writing level, Bruce Timm & crew realized far too late that they had made Superman into a superwimp in the first season of Justice League. They show him taking tons of damage, but rarely dishing out any. Timm promises this won't be the case in season 2+.

Unfortunately, I only have Cartoon Network until the end of the month, and the fight for the remote can be a pain. (Ugh, if I see one more Hallmark Network special, I'll lose my lunch. I like some of the stuff on Hallmark, but the whole Miracle thing is getting old, fast. I hope the extra connections get put in soon, so I can retreat to my room to watch Buffy, Law & Order, and so on, and let the other people watch their junk...)

Another thing that pops into mind: Since when has Reggie (of Archie fame) NOT been going after Midge? I remember the comics, and when he wasn't chasing Veronica (and occassionally Betty), he was sneaking around behind Moose's back trying to get it on with Midge.

Or am I being too much of a curmudgeon? (sp?) :)

The only thing I like about the Hallmark Channel is the Saturday westerns. Love Have Gun Will Travel but I wish they would stop talking over the closing credits so I can hear the theme song ;)

But thats what Superman is. On Krypton he would be a sissy momma's boy. The only reason he is a superhero is because of the effects of earths sun yaddayaddayadda

As you said Superman is not a good fighter (hence the reason why the expert fighters Wonderwoman and even Karate Kid can beat him) Kal-Els only advantage is that he can soak up a ton of hurt and on the off chance that he does hit you its going to cause a lot of megadamage (most of the time of course he misses and smashes through the wall behind you instead)

I wouldn't go that far. We've seen him without his super powers in both the comics and the cartoon, and he's always proven himself as exceptional even without his powers. Just being from Krypton doesn't give him those big muscles, after all. In the Silver Age, Superman had powers since birth, but they changed that in the current versions (both comics and cartoon), so that as a child he had no powers, and began slowly developing them in adolescence.

In the DC Universe, Superman is usually regarded as the top superhero, while Wonder Woman is regarded as #2.

The Justice League show has been heavily criticized for making Superman appear too weak. The producers of the show have said this was a mistake, and that they'll portray the Man of Steel as being tougher in the next season.
