What's In Your Wallet?

My PC has the "Belt & Suspenders" quirk, so he tends to pack a lot (as much as he can). He has a Warhorse (with saddlebags), a Heward's Handy Haversack, and a girdle with two beltpouches on it. In them he carries:

One worn, one with extra clothes).

And then there's the magic stuff... :D :p :]

A lot of this gear is left over from earlier levels (such as the composite longbow (1), the MW studded leather (2), etc. My PC tends to have back-up equipment saved up, instead of selling his old gear... He also has his old longknife, hammer-backed handaxe/crowbar, and claws, just in case he ever needs them, again.

My 10th-level character currently going through Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil has the following mundane equipment: a signet ring, spelunker’s outfit, a blue dragon-tooth belly-jewel (15 gp), canvas tarp, 2 beautifully illustrated Lastine holy texts (100 gp), bolt cutters, crowbar, flint and steel, silk rope (50 ft.), collapsable grappling hook, starlight cloth outfit (100 gp), mess kit, climber’s kit, swimmer’s kit, and a forger’s kit (8 uses).

My 40th-level character currently on a world-walking campaign has a signet ring. Even his clothes are magic (made from a rod of epic splendor).

Kinda makes you wonder...

Every char:

bedroll
waterskin
1 ration (for when everyone's Survival check fails)
pint of oil (even if the char doesn't own a lamp)
flint & steel
chalk (I thought I was the only one!)
50' silk rope
grappling hook (extra use -- diversion 'snack' for a rust monster)

Depending on funds/encumbrance:

small steel mirror
crowbar
sunrods (until an everburning torch is within the char's means)
antitoxin
acid

What goes into a pack depends on the level of the charcter --

My last character (Warlock 2) had the following in his pack

7 days food

spare waterskin

50 foot silk rope

dagger in custom sheath with sharpener and flint

tarp (x2)

cord

sewing kit -- small

bedroll (on the outside)

2 sunrods (for the other party memebers I had devils sight)

screw off 10 foot pole

spare travellers outfit

sack

most of my charcters carry pretty much the same stuff

My Elf ranger (Galad) -- had this load out a grappling hook, bowyers kit and tongs -- oh and a jar of glowing slime, a road with continual light, 4 flaming oil (alchemist fire) and a couple of torches (no sunrods -- they didn't exist at the time I made him)

I almost always have some chalk, a crowbar, a bedroll, some rope, a change of clothes, some rations, and a dagger...

My gnomish (hip-hop) bard is currently carrying ...

Bottle of Fine Wine
Broken golem parts
Bottle of Gnomish cologne
Belt pouch full of assorted cheap rings & jewelry
Several pairs of women's undergarments (past conquests)
Assorted pretty rocks
Quill, ink & parchment
Scroll cases
Vials of ongoing alchemical processes.
Chart detailing line of succession in the gnomish kingdoms. (I'm number 12 with a bullet!)

Reminds me of a seminar that John Wheeler and Peter Rice conducted at Gen Con for years (starting at Parkside). Seminar title: You're Going to Carry All That? Fisrt the audience helped make up the list of equipment for a low level fighter/magic-user. Then John and Peter would outfit some poor victim volunteer from the audience. (First edition, no Heward Haversack.)
Chain armor
helmet
shield
sword or axe
spear
dagger
longbow
quiver w/ 12 arrows
backpack
bedroll
10' pole
mirror
iron ration
waterskin
lantern
extra oil (what a mess)
holy symbol
map case
tinderbox
cook pot
cloak
50' rope
iron spikes
hammer (for spikes)
shovel
chalk
quill and ink
paper
sharpening stone
spell book
bandages
candle
torches
small tent

Most of these items were usually on the list. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
The volunteer needed help to stand up. Needed 2 helpers to put on the backpack. Could barely move. LMAO.

Oh, I used to have a character that carried a bottle of green slime.
