What's Next?

Knightfall

World of Kulan DM
Tag Line: Who is going to come out with the next Spycraft? Dragonstar? Oathbound? Who's going to be a star?

I'm just wondering what new product lines are on the horizon from various d20 publishers/imprints? I know FFG has their new Midnight campaign setting coming out in 2003 but what about other companies?

And if you are an avid game and know of a new product line that will hit the market in early 2003 then let us know what it is and who is making it.

We are the officially licenses producer of Dragonstar adventure material for FFG. Our first title will be Raw Recruits, a 160 page epic adventure/Sourcebook that is coming out in October. We are going to start previewing it very soon.

Here is a link:

After that we have another adventure called Heart of the Machine as well.

FFG has the Imperial Supply coming soon for DS if I am not mistaken.

Well, MonkeyGod Enterprises just announced a brand new D20 setting called "Shadow Branch," written by yours truly and Colin Suleiman. It's not due out "early" 2003--more like the middle of the year--but it's definitely on the horizon.

As to whether it'll be the "next big thing," well, I'd certainly like to think so :D, but we'll just have to see, won't we?

I'm definitely interested in seeing the Dragonstar adventures from Mystic Eye and Thunderhead. (That is the other one, right?)

Hey mouse, is Shadow Branch a fully-detailed world that will change and evolve say like Forgotten Realms or Dragonlance. Or is it more of a epic adventure/campaign like Necropolis?

{edit}

Any chance Frost & Fur will be out sooner then December? :p

Heh. Can't say for sure on Frost & Fur, since I'm not one of the writers on it, but I'd have to say probably not. Sorry.

As far as Shadow Branch...

How much it'll change and evolve depends, of course, on how successful the line is. But in terms of our intentions, it's a setting, not an adventure/campaign. It's a sourcebook, like, say, Hunt: Rise of Evil, Oriental Adventures, or (albeit shorter than :D) FR. The world itself isn't as fully detailed as the examples you mentioned, because--at least for the time being--we're focusing on the area in which Shadow Branch itself operates. That said, it's more than complete enough that you should be able to run multiple long-term campaigns in that world without any difficulty. Heck, you'll even be able to use the setting without the Shadow Branch organization, if you so choose. :)

The current plan is to have several Shadow Branch adventures ready for publication on or about the same time the sourcebook is released.

Hmm, sounds interesting. Thanks mouse!

Anyone else got anything new on the distant horizon? Necromancer? Sword & Sorcery? Anyone?

Well this might be of interest. There was an interview with Joseph Carriker about upcoming releases in 2003.

First there will be a Revised Creature Collection in January 2003.
Later in the year, Class books. They are set in the Scarred Lands BUT they aren't SL specific. So it's almost like seeing R&R for players. I do know the first book is being written by Ethan Skemp, Kevin "Piratecat" Kulp and Mike Gill, and will be "Sorcerers, Wizards and Bards" This book won't be about "feats and Pr-classes" but working organic type of brotherhoods of wizards, cabals of sorcerers, as well as bloodlines for all of them.

Oh and they'll continue doing that along with doing possible HC for Asherak, the third continent, possibly even do a work up of the Dragon lands, an archpelogo(sp) where Dragons are said to hail from. Plus there will be a CC3 that will probably have an open call.

We are all Mystic Eye now and yes the first one should be out in October and the book is fricken awesome....really from maps to art to the writing, this is a great book it is titled "Raw Recruits" and will weigh in around 160 pages....then in January is "Heart of the Machine" which is a 64 pager and also very well written. We also had FFG look them over so we are all on the same page. Very happy with the DS stuff---VERY!
