What's On Your Comic Pull-List?

Bone, it's almost over, ahhhhhhh!
Powers

I've been getting Powers in TPB. Ahh, Bone. Man, that has to be the funniest thing I read back when it first came out. I've been meaning to pick up the TPB's, myself. How is 'Rose', which I think is a spin-off series?

Planetary is the only comic I buy. Not that new issues ever actually come out.

I do pick up the occasional trad paperback, though -recently I pickup up a bunch of the Marvel Ultimate line, which is uniformly excellent, so far as I've seen.

I almost broke down and bought the latest Ultimates, but I resisted.

I'm so out of the comic loop.

I don't recognise 90% of the titles. :(

LOL. I'm in the same boat! I live two miles west of nowhere and haven't been in a comic shop in, God, 3 or 4 years?

I still do get a couple of books from a friend in NYC who has a friend who owns a shop. Once every couple of months, he mails me down a box with my comics.

What I currently collect is:

JLA
JSA
Green Arrow (considering dropping)
Catwoman
Hellboy (but only in TPB form)

I also picked up a TPB of Way Of The Rat by Crossgen Comics at a Barnes & Noble. Haven't read it yet, but it looks good.

I recently dropped Wonder Woman. The writing wasn't bad for the most part, but too much time was spent cleaning up John Byrne's mess. I really hated his run.

I collected, until the times of their cancellations, Starman, Sandman, and Sandman Mystery Theatre. If they were still around, I'd be reading them today.

And I miss The Flash. I collected that thing from '88 or '89 until '01 or '02. The writing quaity just dropped off. I didn't enjoy reading it anymore, I just bought it out of habit.

Same thing happened with Spider-Man (at one point I got all the titles). The stories just got terrible. I luckily dropped it just before the horror known as the Clone Saga started.

And I dumped X-Men when Claremont got fired. The writing took a sharp nosedive the very next issue.

Also, I loved Legion Of Superheroes and Legion. They were cancelled and replaced by a mini-series which I hated. The art was terrific, but the story (one of the team goes bad) sucked.

WayneLigon, I see you've named Legion in your list. Did DC bring it back?

Hawkman's back? Huh, I had no idea. Astro-City is still being published? I collected that one, but then it sort of disappeared. And is there a 2nd League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen series out?

Man, I'm sooo out of it...

Dude... Hawkman returned in JSA.

Astro City disappeared because Kurt Busiek has been sick. He was finally diagnosed with mercury poisoning. He was still able to work on books like Avengers and Power Company, but his Astro City stories were too complex for him to plot out properly. He's slowly recovering, and Astro City is now being done as a series of minis, to be released only when the entire mini is written (so there's no chance of extended delay between parts).

LOL. I meant the comic not the character. I knew the superhero was back.

As for Busiek, I hope he's okay. He's one of the best writers out there.

I don't believe the Planetary/Batman story's in continuity, but rather a follow-up on the Elseworlds Planetary/JLA.

I certainly hope so. I kept looking for a '#1 of 2' on it, thinking 'man, you need a second issue of this', if only for the fact that they didn't even see The Drummer, much less take care of him.

Yes, and yes. :) Legon went on hiatus while they did this 12-issue maxiseries called Legion Lost, that I didn't get. Apparently the sole reason for this was to kill off Element Lad and Live Wire )Lightning Lad). Then they brought it back as a new series. Some notable things changed (the nature of the Legion itself, Brande, how star travel now works) and some things stayed the same (Most costumes, Invisible Kid's still straight, Gates is back). Things have been pretty good, all told.

Yes, second series of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is out, dealing with the Martian Invasion.
