What's on your shelf?

I'm a fairly avid comic collector. I don't usually buy on what's worth the most, or is extremely rare (though I do sometimes), but simply for both the joy of collecting, and because I know I'll like the comic(s) in question.

As such, I've accumulated a rather hefty amount of comics over the years. While a lot of these probably won't ever be worth much more than I paid for them, I'm rather proud of having them nonetheless.

Some of the things I enjoy having the most are the entire single-issue run of No Need for Tenchi! (and The All-New Tenchi Muyo!), every issue of Knights of the Dinner Table back to #14 (along with every issue of Knights of the Dinner Table Illustrated and Everknights), all fourteen issues of the Maximum Carnage mini-series from Marvel, and the Archie Meets The Punisher crossover.

There are more, but you get the idea.

What comics do you own that make you smile, nod, and say "Yup, I've got that one."? Be they single issues, runs, or trades, what are you proud to have in your collection?

I'd have to say the single comic book that I am most glad I own is my trade paperback of Watchmen. I must have read it cover to cover a dozen times at least and every time I find something new in it that I'd not picked up on before, just an utterly fascinating read.

I also enjoy the Death of Superman and Return of Superman (the bridging chapter World Without a Superman just is not as good).

My hardback of JLA: Earth 2 is another fave read, along with all of Grant Morrisons run on JLA which I have in trade paperbacks.

My three large collected editions of Calvin & Hobbes strips are always a joy to read. I can spend hours laughing at those two's exploits.

And the entire Batman saga of Cataclysm plus No Mans Land vols 1-5 is just epic in scope, and I love reading through that once in a while.

Normally I just read the comics at the store, then put them back on the shelf. (Thankfully, my local clerks don't object to me treating their stores as a library. :p)

The only ongoing series I actually ever purchase is JSA -- Justice Society of America. I'm a total junkie for Golden Age mystery men, and JSA's got Golden Age charm coming out its ears.

I'm also collecting Green Lantern: Rebirth. I'm up to #4, and I'm absolutely loving it so far. Although only Alan Scott is the "one, true Green Lantern" as far as I'm concerned. :p

The only collection I own is a hardcover of Neil Gaiman's Marvel: 1602, which I was given as a gift last year.

Hmmm...some of my favourites (this is going to be long :p )

TPB's:
Batman: The Long Halloween
Batman: Cataclysm
Batman: No Man's Land
The Watchmen
Kingdom Come
Star Wars: Dark Empire I & II
Crisis on Infinite Earths
The Infinity Gauntlet

Mini-series
The Infinity War
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen I & II

Complete Monthly Series
I acknowledge that these aren't the greatest moments in comics, but I enjoyed them none-the-less.
Sovereign Seven (I've actually come to detest Chris Claremont since reading Shadow Moon, but I still enjoy S7)
Guardians of the Galaxy
Captain Marvell (the last series)
GI Joe (the original series, although I haven't finished it yet)

Ongoing Monthly Series
Kevin Smith's run on Daredevil and Green Arrow
Knights of the Dinner Table
The new Conan Series
The new GI Joe series

Well...that's all for now. ;)

Comics?

Hmm...

A pretty near complete run of The Tick and spinoffs thereof (Man-Eating Cow, Paul the Samurai)

Collected Sandman

Collected Flaming Carrot

A few throw-away issues of "classic" superhero comics that have Arthurian themes (Batman, Superman, Iron Man, etc.)

A Planet of the Apes comic book with an Arthurian theme

About half the run of Prince Valiant

A number of Asterix comics

The Watchmen

Oh, and Vol. 1 of Howard the Duck

(double checks)

Yep, that's it

Cerebus, the phonebooks...I mean TPBs! ;)

Watchmen, but who doesn't?

The Planetary, complete run to date. Love it.

Scott Kurtz's PvP, complete run starting with the Dork Storm books.

Once upon a time I had over 1000 comics. But when I married and moved from my folks' house to my own apartment I had to sell 99% of them (including most of my TPBs). I only kept:
Fafhrd & Gray Mouser mini-series by Chaykin and Mignola
The Crow TPB
Superman: Kal (what if Superman landed in medieval Britain)
Hellboy (Right Hand of Doom, Wake the Devil, Seed of Destruction, Chained Coffin)

I still have a few comics, including Nightwing, JLA, JSA, The Titans, Teen Titans, Outsiders, Sojourn.

Unfortunatedly, space is the biggest deterrent for me to start buying comics again (currently I only buy the brazilian editions of Conan and Teen Titans, the latter also carries Outsiders, Birds of Prey and Robin). If DC were to start selling comic book PDFs, I'd start buying them by the Gb...

One of the first comics I remember buying for myself (from the 7-11 at the end of my grandmother's street) was Amazing SpiderMan #298, which also happened to be the first Spiderman book drawn by Todd McFarlane. I'm no longer a McFarlane fan, but it's cool I have that book.

I also have the 9-11 Amazing Spiderman (the one with the all black cover). I'm glad I have that one as well.

I also have a whole bunch of the D&D and Forgotten Realms comic books, put out by DC in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Those are fun.

Of the books actually on a shelf, which would be the trades, I'd have to say my favorites are:

The Nightwing trades
The newest Teen Titans
The New Teen Titans Archive
The Legion Archive vol 1+2
Sentinels vol 1 (going to get vol 2, soon)
The Hellboy collections
