What's so good about a Halberd - A Warden Question

Nope. Difficult terrain is difficult terrain no matter how many times it is applied. On that note, Sudden Roots doesn't create difficult terrain. It just slow the target of an OA when you hit them.

which by the way is just crippling. Being slowed in difficult terrain is just awful.

Going off on a bit of a tanget here, does anyone else think that halberds are completely wrong for Wardens in terms of flavor?

I mean, aren't Wardens a Primal class? Aren't they supposed to be members of primitive tribes that wouldn't even have something as developed as the halberd, which is a Renaissance-era weapon?

I'm probably alone here, but giving a Warden a halberd just seems as daft as giving a neanderthal a rocket launcher...

What about spears? Aren't those very primal?
A halberd or a glaive is just the same as a spear but with a bigger or wider tip.

Anyway, everyone should know real world history has nothing to do with the D&D world!

Remember, halberd isn't the only game in town when it comes to polearms. Greatspear and Glaive are also very good choices. Greatspear has some interesting feat support for certain characters and glaive with the various heavy blade feats can pile a LOT of functionality onto one weapon choice.

Perhaps, but Wardens are very much happy with Str, Con, and Wisdom. Polearms like the Wisdom, and Strength and Con pretty much puts you in Axe or Hammer country.

And this, Halbard for the go.

But wouldn't Heavy Blade Opportunity be best combined with Polearm Gamble?
Heavy Blade Opportunity
Prerequisites:
Str 15, Dex 15

Benefit:
When you make an opportunity attack
with a heavy blade, you can use an at-will attack that

has the weapon keyword instead of a basic attack.

Exception to this is the wizard power, Phantasmal Terrain (Utility2), which makes difficult terrain more difficult (2 squares to 3).
