Torture is a mind game, not a body game
Torturing someone is not about pain, it’s about fear.
Pain eventually becomes numb and you lose it, though your body and your mind still react, you are completely unaware of it. Fear will root you into a place that you cannot escape.
However if you want pain to be displayed then I would suggest a fine line of maple syrup, and a couple dozen fire ants. The thin line of syrup goes across the floor, up the victims’ foot, leg, lingers about the groin, and then goes up to the ear. You can only do this once, because they have to be able to hear.
However I would use this tactic on some urchin in front of the intended victim. Let them watch the fire ants for a day or two, then when this guy can’t take anymore watching this kid get eaten up by these ants, pour a line of syrup towards him. “Now, this won’t take very long, perhaps a day or two- oh, I guess you know that already.”
A little oil on one spot of the body works too. Catching the vic’s hand on fire, then dousing it- you want First and Second degree burns not Third. If you do it right you can burn the same place many times.
The smell is very strong, and that in and of itself can be very psychologically lubricating.
Be psychological in your display, take your time, and most of all be patient. A torturer that show little emotion (well maybe a little delight) is much more effective in the long run then one that is very angry and upset. Have fun with it, be inventive.
