What's the best PrC for getting a scout some sneak attack dice?

OK, I've got a Chaotic Good elven scout. It's a good mesh of race and class, but the favored class does me in as far as taking rogue levels goes, so if I want some sneak attack dice I need a PrC. Assassin is out due to the alignment restrictions. What other official PrC's make a good choices considering the alignment and class skills available? Dread commando seems like an obvious candidate. What else have you guys tried?

Why is the Sneak Attack damage so important?? If it's so necessary trade off levels with rogue, and get all the nifty rogue stuff, or take a few and accept the HP hit. Either seems fair to me. I'm real cool with PrC's, but sometimes I don't see why folks take them. This would be one of the latter...

Darkwood Stalker (in Complete Warrior) may be a good choice for an elf to get sneak attacks.

But do you really need sneak attacks? Skirmish ability and Sneak attack ability do not combine that much well IMHO.

perhaps he wants versatiity,
not maxed out one thing

scouts are just as stealthy as rogues
and you can stealth at half speed no penalty
elf scout = 40ft move : 20ft is plenty for adding skirmish damage

I specifically explained the problem with taking rogue levels. Read (and consider) before you spew, please. Multi-classing outside of your favored class is very confining.

Something like that, yes.

Disappointing thread so far. Thought for sure I'd see a higher ratio of constructive comments on this board. :\

Actually, if you multiclass in the ratio of 1:1 (or simular), you don't get experience penalty. It is not a bad choice indeed. Is there any specific reason you don't want to do this? Say, like Rogue 3/Scout 3 or rogue 7/Scout 6. Maybe you have another class which you want to take?

It will help if you provide more information about your interest. What kind of skills, feats or abilities do you want to give your character? There are various prestige classes which give you some sneak attack dices. But for other aspects, each classes are completely different. Do you need just sneak attack combat capability? Or do you want your character to stick to an outdoor scout type? Or do you want your character to be more like urban rogues? Or maybe you want a good dungeon delver type? Also, if you can provide current stats (and maybe feats) or the character, it will become much easier to find some good classes for him. Any information will help us making some constructive advices.

Shin - He is already a >3 level Scout. Which means the second he takes a Rogue class, he is XP smacked. He CANNOT get to 1:1 ratio with sacrificing 20% of his XP all the way there.

Felon - I wish I can help you, but I don't have any books outside of the Core books. Sorry.

I know its not sneak attack damage but you may want to consider the Order of the Bow Initiate. You're target doesn't need to be denied his Dex bonus to use the Ranged Precision ability. You only need to use a a ranged attack within 30 feet. Not sure if you are only looking for sneak attacks or just extra damage though.
