Here's a thought: we could try to make our own. I have noticed that there are quite a few people here that, like myself, have watched a lot of tv shows, and have seen enough to know what works and what doesn't. Just something to do in our spare time. Well, one MORE thing.;)

Granted, there's a good chance the show would have sucked, but if it was lucky enough to get a good writing staff, some decent actors, and a good budget, it could have been very cool.

Really, it had to be the budget. The show would have been an FX nightmare.

From GamingReport.com, posted March 6:

Here is the 'latest' info directly from an email from wizards legal department:

"Thank you for contacting Wizards of the Coast, we apologize for the delay in responding to your e-mail.

The license with Fireworks entertainment for the Forgotten Realms TV Show expired last fall. Our entertainment division is currently seeking new opportunities for the brand and are in discussions with several other potential entertainment partners."

In other words. "The show is dead. We are covering our collective butts and maybe some day, the show will make the light of day. Probably the same time as the return of M.A.S.H updated."

I would have liked to see a serious fantasy-themed TV show, not a silly or campy one like Xena or Hercules (no offense to fans of those shows).
You still have to give credit to the Raimi folks for having two successsful fantasy genre TV series that lasted at least six seasons each in syndication.

Some of us remembered way back when CBS had Wizards & Warriors (with Taxi and B5 star Jeff Conaway) that lasted less than a full season, or ABC's Covington Cross (following the heels of Kevin Costner's Robin Hood movie) with actresss-turned-lesbian Iona Skye and the late Glenn Quinn, plus two notable actors straight from the Excalibur film (Nigel Terry and Cherie Lunghi).

I liked both those shows, but probably covenington cross more since it was a bit more "realistic." Anyone remember Roar?

Almost forgot about Roar, since that was Heath Ledger's first TV appearance in the US. FOX-TV aired as midseason/summer replacement. Heck, it was FOX who also aired the vampire-themed Kindred: The Embraced (now on DVD).

Both series didn't get picked up.

Yeah I know. I must admit though, I liked Roar better. :) The whole vampire TV show was a bit much. (Course this is coming from same guy that loves Buffy and Angel and thoroughly enjoyed Forever Knight.)

Bummer.

None taken. Hercules was *supposed* to be silly and campy. I always enjoyed it, even if the rubber/computer drawn monsters looked fake and cheesy. And even the serious Herc episodes were done well.

However, the silliness didn't work at all for Xena. Xena was supposed to be a more serious show. And some of the early serious episodes were done well. But the silliness, historical butchery, and lesbianism really trashed it. I blame it all on Gabrielle.
