What do you guys think is the most usefull non-combat only magic item? So, nor armor or swords, etc... but thinks like the deck of many things, and figurines.... Also, no tomes...

Boccob's blessed book (assuming it doesn't count as a tome) is pretty nice for wizards. Boots of striding and springing rock, as does a ring of flying or anything else that increases mobility.

If you're not judging utility by price, though, go for the classic ring of three wishes.

I can think of about a million and one uses for the Immovable Rod. I'd use one all the time (if I were a player and if the GM would let me get my hands on one).

So lets see so far...

Gloves of storing - holds items
Handy Haversack - holds items
Portable Hole - holds items
Boccob's blessed book - holds (items) spells
Bag of holding - holds items

Huh... holding items is really that useful?

Non-holding stuff
Boingy boingy boots
Ring of flying
Quaal feather token - tree
Immovable Rod

I dunno about the boots or ring, they really have only one use each, movement.

But the last two have a ton of uses! Making them the 'most useful'.
