So, for 2014 (not 2024), if you played in a game but could only take feats, use magic items, or multiclass, which would you choose??

To be clear:

1. you get ASIs. But unless you pick feats, you can only do the ability score improvement option.
2. if you don't choose magical items, there are NONE in the game, including potion of healing.
3. no multiclassing of course means no multiclassing--so what you pick at level 1 is what you get.

Yeah I can make do without Multiclassing and while there are some Feats I'm quite fond of they're not worth going through twenty levels with mundane equipment. Especially in any edition but 4th, since monsters are often resistant or immune to non-magical weapons.

It is not much of a choice if there will be no magic items. Half the game has always been cool items. I can play and have played with no feats and no multiclassing.

Yeah, feats and multiclassing are player options. Magic items are character rewards, plot MacGuffins, and an essential aspect of the fantasy genre. It's a completely different category than pure mechanics like feats and multiclassing. It would be easier to eliminate spellcasters from the game than it would be to eliminate magic items. I mean, look at the Middle Earth roleplaying games.

That said, between feats and multiclassing, I would choose feats.

Multiclassing

Feats seem cool, but there aren't enough slots to make picking them better than ASIs in many cases.

I'd kinda miss magic items, but that still impacts my character less than leveling.

When I was still running 5th edition, no feats and no multiclassing was how I ran, so magic items are clearly the one for me. I honestly don't think I would even want to play in a game that didn't have magic items.
