What's the point buy?

I was looking at the 6 characters. Since there are only 4 odd numbers out of 36 rolls, it is safe to assume (p-value>99% ;-) ) that these characters were not rolled.

I've been punching the characters in to a point-buy calculator and I'm getting values between 31 and 36, assuming various racial stat bonuses. I think the human, assuming no stat bonus, gave me 36.

What's going on?

Using 3E point buy values and assuming the following:

Halfling +2 Dex, +2 Cha(assumed from preview fluff)
Dwarf +2 Con, +2 Wis(they are supposed to favor cleric)
Eladrin +2 Dex, +2 Int(almost certain at this point)
Half Elf +2 Con, +2 Cha(These are really weird)
Human +2 to any stat, in this case Wis(doesn't work any other way)
Tiefling +2 Int, +2 Cha(seen their entry in the PHB, this is fact)

All of the characters end up at either 29 or 30 points using the 3E system. I have a thread going in another forum that is playing with this, trying to get the same number across the board. We got this:

Assume the following point costs:
8: 0
9: 1
10: 2
11: 3
12: 4
13: 5
14: 7
15: 9
16: 11
17: 14
18: 18

Each of the characters then ends up right for a 32 point buy.

In another thread the WotC gut who created the characters for DDXP came on and said he used a standard 28 point buy. He also admitted to a couple of the characters getting an extra point or 2 'cos he did them at 2am and made a few mistakes!
EDIT: as in same as 3E point buy

Haha! Here we all are, straining our brains, and it's just good old human error. BTW, which thread was this?

I buy that. I was hoping these slightly higher stats were part of the rules. Oh well.

Sorry, I really can't remember. I was reading it late last night, along with 30 odd others and they tend to blur a bit ;)
You will just have to trust me!
