Ah, I see. I made a post a while back about a character that shot down a White Dragon with his bow in 1E and that drew complaints that the encounter was played incorrectly, and had a hunch that your group was about more of the same.

"That totally cinematic and dramatic encounter was stupid! Dragons are supposed to make you pee your pants just like Bard did right before he killed Smaug!"

But I can see helping people out who just flat out don't know how to play them to their potential.

Hey, it happens :). There is only one force that can overcome the mighty dragons - a group of player characters who have their stuff together and are working together.

Lsat dragon I used ambushed the party, dropping darkness on them and rocking with his breath weapon. The group immediately took full move actions in different directions to get away from the darkened character. The sorceress did this by hasting and casting fly.

The next round she throws a disintegrate.

Spell resistance: 19
Touch attack: 18
My fort save: 2

Dragon goes poof. Kind of funny, here I'm the webmaster for the kick-butt dragons site, and my group takes out a dragon 3 CR over their level in one round. :)

Yeah, thats always a problem. Fudge and give the players a good fight, or let them end it this way? The problem with fudging is that I would feel very guilty when someone died and I have to fudge again so they don´t.

BADD is all fine and dandy, it's great, I occasionally use it when I want to annoy (that means kill, btw) a few PCs. But what gets on my nerves is when Enboard members put 'truly BADDass!' or something in their sigs. What the hell does that mean? Bothered about the disposable portion of a dragon's hindquarters? WTF?

:D

Sounds like Kai Lord thinks all monsters should stand their ground in the open and fight the PCs toe to toe :)

Hey, KL - can I PC in your campaign? lol

(Just kidding - seriously...)

For the most part, yes. I'm a big fan of Terminator-esque opponents that can just walk into the middle of a group badass PC's and kick all their asses. You'll never encounter something as cinematic and majestic as a dragon that cowers behind darkness spells and guardian henchmen in one of my adventures.

Sure, if you don't mind going up against guys that magic jar into your dead body when they kill you and have your corpse hunt down and kill your lover. The villains in my campaigns have been known to do that.

And that was in a solo campaign that had been building for over a year. When I DM groups I don't pull punches. You're definitely welcome though, the more the merrier.

I thought BADD

I thought BADD was about people disappointed in the recent issues of Dragon Mag and the people that throw them away...
