What's With Paying for Previews???

Umm, no. Sorry. Not talking about advertisements. I'm talking about the rather lengthy articles that took up large swaths of Dragon for about six months prior to the release of 3e. The whole "Countdown to 3e" thing they had going there for a while. Those were not ads, but articles that took up the space of the magazine.

I'm not talking about the ads that WOTC started putting in the back of Paizo Dragons a while back.

I stand corrected.

OTOH, $20 of my subscription at the time got me about 7 or 8 magazines with those articles. (That's a very rough guess.) The countdown articles had previews of the actual rules themselves. ON top of the previews, I had lots of material for my 2e games at the time.

This time around, I don't get to see any mechanics for the $20 spent. I get to see some artwork and designers thoughts while working on it. As I stated earlier, that doesn't appeal to me. For those that it does, I hope they enjoy it.

It's only hard because the internet is full of people eager to explain how dumb your tastes are.

Exactly.

It's one thing for people to say "I don't like this, and here is why." and it's another when their argument is phrased like "I don't like this, and anyone who does is ignorant/naive/stupid/has bad taste."
