What's your favorite Superhero movie?

This is a tough one because, in the past few years there've been a number of excellent super-hero adaptations or super-heroesque type films... The Incredibles was fantastic. I loved both X-Men and X2, although I think the sequel was superior to the original. Spiderman II was a fun ride, although not as good as its mutant counterpart. And the first Superman was probably the most faithful adaptation for years to come.

In the end I went with Batman Begins. Not only do I think it was an excellent adaptation, it was a great movie to boot. And it's Batman... If there was a choice to select more than one I would have put X2 with it.

And I can't believe that Catwoman's there and not Batman and Robin!

Top 5 from the list, in order:

1. The Incredibles
2. X-men
3. Hellboy
4. X-2
5. Spider-man

Blade: Trinity gets special mention, not because it was any good (it wasn't IMO), but, because I'm a drooling Parker Posey fanboy.

I'm pleased to read so much support for Unbreakable as a favorite super-hero movie. I feared I would be alone in voicing my opinion as such.

It was a good movie that, I think, was a little too out there for most viewers.

The Blade movies (number 3 wasn't too good), nothing beats a black half-vampire with a sword killing stuff.
One question why do you list the spiderman, superman, batman and X men movies seperately but not the blade movies?

Unbreakable was good.

What! You left "Supergirl" off the list!

Seriously though, I had to go with the first "Superman" film. I saw it in NYC Times Square in an old turn-of-the century threater that I'm sure has been torn down long ago. The screen was the biggest screen I had ever seen, which was perfect for that film. My brother and I loved it so much we stayed through a second showing.

I will echo that Unbreakable was an amazing movie. Blade 2, The Incredibles and Spiderman 2 are others that I loved.

Blade 2 was simply action and and frantic filmwork that I can always just sit down and watch over and over again. The movie didn't cheat and really moved at a wonderful pace.

Unbreakable blew me out of the water. The surprise factor was a big contributor to this. I had no idea that it was going to a "superhero" movie. I went just cuz the trailer looked cool. I thought it was going to be a mystery movie. It doesn't hold up as well on repeat viewings (of course) but is still very good. I loved that it basically depicted what it would be like if the world really did have people who had superpowers.

Spiderman 2 actually caused me to tear up at one point: the end of the train sequence. The action was fantastic and had resonance. Every fight really meant something. And the hero is really someone who we all can identify with. Great movie in all respects.

And then there is The Incredibles. So many little touches plus all the great characters push it into another level of movie. The way the family changes over the course of the movie really hit home for me. Should have been nominated for Best Picture.

I voted The Incredibles but if it was multiple choice I would have voted Spidey 2 as well. They are not only great superhero movies but just great movies overall.

Big Honkin' Note: I haven't seen Batman Begins yet...

I'll exclude the Batman movies from this list, because he's not technically a superhero. I voted for the original Superman movie.
