I chose option 2. Working on the new homebrew already to be ready to play when my AoW game is done, which should be June-ish.

But I also like pie.

Unless there is some glaring, unfixable problem that emerges in the 4E rules between now and the release of the game, I am fairly sure I will switch. Everything announced so far looks good, and I have faith in the designers and their intentions for the game.

I voted that I am going to switch, but that isn't entirely correct. As long as 4e is a solid implementation of the design philosophies that the designers and developers have enumerated I will run some 4e games. I will not, however, completely abandon running Mutants and Masterminds,New World of Darkness, Exalted, Burning Wheel, or The Riddle of Steel and if 4e suffers from a faulty execution I will stick to running those games. Still, 4e is my last best hope of finding a version of D&D that I actively enjoy running.

What are my plans?

Well, let's see...

I like pie. So, I choose that option. Seriously though, I'm reluctant to switch my current campaign worlds to 4e. I've invested a lot of time and energy into them as 3rd Edition worlds. Thus, I'm not likely to switch to 4e anytime soon. (World of Kulan will remain a 3rd Edition world, period.)

I'm more likely to create a new campaign world specificly for 4th Edition. I've already given it a name and created a map for it, but that's it. It's too early to create anything more specific, IMO. I'll likely take a look at the books when they come out or, at least, keep informed as the new edition progresses.

Basically, what I'm saying is that I haven't decided yet, and I like pie.

I am 100% buying the books as soon as they're available. Whether I actually switch to 4E full-time is another question. I'll run it for my group for a while, and if we like it better than 3E, we'll switch.

I will read through it and probably play a game or two to test it out. However, unless it is MUCH easier to set up a game, I'll be sticking Castles and Crusades. 3e pretty much already shot right past my willingness to spend time prepping a game.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation where my Namea (my current homebrew) will remain an Iron Hero game. Too much work put into it to change over and 4e is still too "high magic" for it anyway.

However, I've pretty much talked myself into updating my Greyhawk-Planescape game to 4e so I'm sure I'll give that a whirl at some point...

From my point of view, aside from the "shiney new book" feel, there are few 4E rule "improvements" that I feel come without an accompanying negative. Yet even though I have voiced very little support for the changes we've seen so far, I know that I'll take a look at the book and even try a palytest before I make a "final" decision.

But unless I can find something to wow me about 4E, I'll stick with my current rotation of games and systems..

My plan is to run my current 3e game until it comes to its natural end. We play once a month, so that's not likely to be any time soon unless there is a major TPK. I'm going to pick up the core rules, and try to run Keep on the Shadowfell at some point to test them out. If they're worse than 3e, my next campaign will stay the same, or possibly revert to 2e. If they're better, it'll be a full conversion.

I don't really enjoy running 3E anymore and was contemplating quitting last summer before the annoucement was made.

So I have decided to switch to 4E sight unseen. What I've heard sounds interesting. And if it is just as unenjoyable to DM I'm right back where I started, deciding whether I really want to keep playing D&D. Although 4E sounds like it may be easier to get someone else to DM even if I don't want to anymore. I was willing no matter what to keep playing last summer if someone else would have taken over as DM, but no one in our group wanted to step up.
