A few folks have mentioned that regardless of whether they switch to 4E or not, they are done with 3.5. I'm pretty much of the same camp there, though I have a moderately house-ruled version that works ok. Options like C&C, Microlite20, and good ol' AD&D1E are still there for me if 4E just doesn't work out.

But we're comitted to a thourough test drive! :)

Option 2. In fact, by the time 4th comes around, I'm hoping to start in a new D&D group, and we've agreed we definitely want to try it out.

Most, if not all, what I've heard about 4th sounds like they're going in the right direction, and after reading the preview books I'm looking forward to seeing what they've done with the actual implementation. I'll even do my best to convince our to-be-DM that Tieflings and Dragonborn aren't all that bad.

I was more excited by 4e at first, but more and more it seems like a differernt game than 3ed. I like 3ed and am comfortable in my HB world, and my group is reluctant to reinvest in new books.
We may enjoy playing the new game, and are willing to playtest it, probably having a window in august or september. If the reviews of the starting moduals are good, ill pick one up, otherwise creating my own 1-shot adventure.
I already have a new 4e world sketched out, that uses or discards new assumptions as I learn of them. I figure I will need to switch eventually, esp if my current group does not survive the arrival of children this year.

I don't really enjoy running 3E anymore and was contemplating quitting last summer before the annoucement was made.

Pretty much, me too.

I have an AE campaign I'm going to run out to high levels, and then I'm switching to 4e. But I'm definitely not running 3.5 again even if, by some quirk of fate, I end up despising 4e.

I've had my fill of 3.5, and if 4 disappoints. . . well, there are plenty of other systems out there that I like.

Fortunately, the other players in the group are on board with this plan.

I voted for pie, not only because pie is tasty, but also because whether or not I switch will depend largely on my groups, and not on me.

I've pre-ordered the books, regardless. I hope I get to use them. :D

Not switching. My players refuse to "learn a new system" and refuse to purchase new PHBs.
Out of curiosity, does your group only play D&D?

I only ask because I've got some acquaintances who are highly resistant to 4e, and they play D&D exclusively (as far as I know).

On the other hand, my two groups play many different RPGs, so we don't have real 'fidelity' to any particular system. We're all looking forward to 4e.
