D&D General What's your second favorite edition of D&D?

Eh, it got the job done, but it was a kludge. What I would ideally like is a 4e-like system built from the ground up with bounded accuracy in mind. Sadly, with 4e never having been part of the OGL that’s unlikely to ever happen.
I would potentially go less for a bounded accuracy 4E game but one with a flatter progression. Maybe build it more like Guild Wars 1, MtG, or Slay the Spire. You go out into the world to acquire new powers that improve your "deck" or loadout of abilities, enabling you to take on stronger foes.

Im gonna say 3/3.5 edition. Only because it has a number of great books you can pillage/cherry pick for lore stuff for any edition of DND. Also, it was around that time I was playing Neverwinter Nights 1 on the PC and eventually started hearing about the awesomeness that is Mask of The Betrayer for NWN2. Then there was the Return to The Temple of Elemental Evil game.

This was also the edition where I actually started to like, get into the lore of DND and learned bout the various factions, deities and all that.

I'm torn three ways on 2nd favorite: 5e, 2e, and RC.

5e is the edition I've played the longest at this point and it's extremely flexible in terms of homebrew.
2e has some of my favorite settings like Spelljammer and Dark Sun
RC for having the cajones to go all the way to level 36.

Basic/Expert, as it is the root of all of my favorite OSR products (Labyrinth Lord, Lamentations of the Flame Princess and Old School Essentials).

If all of 2e was confined to Ravenloft, it would have been my favorite though (for writing, mood, art and layout).

Skills and Powers 2E.
