What's your single favorite D&D creature?

It has to be the bunny rabbit.....with about 10 levels of sorcerer! The look on the players face is priceless!
Ignoring the fact that an animal has too low an int to get character levels, it also has too low Cha to cast any spells.

Illithids. I love those squid-headed, brain eating horrors, whether they're from another time, another plane, a twilight world. The point is, in a world where manticores, medusae and dragons are considered fairly standard, they're alien. Add to that psionic power and a really icky life cycle... I just love them, and try to work them and their machinations somehow in all my games.

Demiurge out.

Well, it could always be awakened and have 3d6 INT and +1d3 charisma. At least a wizard doesn't seem impossible.

As to the question, I don't really know. I like humanoids. I like dragons. I like illithids *shrug*.

Sahuagin!

Nothing has terrified my players more than these guys. They appear so easy... like taking down an orc or a hobgoblin, but when played right these critters pack the most power for their level.

Not to mention anyone with remote fear of the water will be putty in the DM's hands if you play near Sahuagin. My seafaring campaign with Sahuagin as the main enemy was both the hardest and the most fun game I've ever run. I've never seen players ceate and use so many teamwork-based tactics in order to overcome any other type of monster.
