Whedon Back on TV! With Eliza Dushku! On Fox, No Less!

Nope. She's always been flat. Any growth you think you perceive likely comes from writers writing around what little they had to work with and directors doing similar. It's like writers who have one decent story in them or people who can sing one certain song convincingly well. Once it is discovered where any person's limited acting range is, you can sometimes keep material in the wheelhouse. Also, once in a while a particularly good director can trick a person into making a leap in ability but it cannot be attributed to acting talent nor likely to be reproduced by the actor, even with the same director.

To be honest, I've always thought Joss Whedon had a very good eye for talent. Even if we discount Faith, pretty much all his other characters were solidly cast, across all three of his shows. (Maybe he had a really great casting person.)

So, if he's willing to go with a show based around Dushku, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah but you also had Farscape, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Eurkea to name a few of their good original programs.
I thought SG-1 was a product of MGM/Showtime, Stargate: Atlantis is a product of Sony (who bought MGM).

Note I did say "[TV] movies" not "TV series."

It is. I consider original programming to be a show that has not been showed some where else first. Not a rerun of a show say like Dr Who.

When the network went live the only non rerun shows they had was their news show everything else was reruns of old SF shows that had been cancelled.

With Stargate after Showtime let it go new epsiodes found a home on the Sci-Fi Channel.

I did notice that you said movies though Earthsea was a miniseries and they have had several miniseries that were well done like Dune and Taken.

I have yet to see a good movie on Saturday night.

Elisha's a far better actress than Sarah I got one face Gellar. I wished they would have just left buffy dead after season five and renamed it Faith the Vampire Slayer.

I have to agree with Elf Witch. As nice as they may be they are horrible at running a TV channel.

I'd have to do some digging, but historically I think the fact of the matter is that they've been making good money for a niche-market channel.

They may not be good at running a channel that you like to watch. But, when the ultimate measure of TV channel success are ratings and profit, they don't seem to be doing too bad.

Well, that's a given. Buffy had the most perfect ending ever at Season 5. Of course, we wouldn't have gotten Once More With Feeling, but I could live with that.

Judging from their own forum the majority of people who post there hate the channel. I used to watch the channel a lot now I just prefer to wait until Stargate Atlantis comes out on DVD.

I just remmeber when they were trying to get people intrested in the channel they used to go to cons and do presentations. They wanted the fannish community invloved. Their plans at the time were to start with reruns and the news show and move onto original programing. they also wanted to have a talk show where Sf writers, actors and producers in SF shows and movies, gaming and comic people would be interviewed.

They talked about filming awards like the Hugos at the worldcon. It all sounded very exiciting.

I don't mind the reruns of old shows but what has made me just say to hell with it is their policy of showing one episode of a show and then it disappers and may or may not show up in a marathon.

Right now their are only two shows I care about on their network and that is Atlantis and Eureka.

But they must be making money because they are still on the air. The weird thing is there top rated show is wrestling.
