Either Eliza Dushku or Amy Acker.

I thought he said he didn't want to see an anorexic chick. That completely rules out Acker. Dushku's closer, but she doesn't have the presence for the role.

I still maintain that the best possible Wonder Woman would be Gina Torres, except that the movie-going public wouldn't accept a black Wonder Woman. She's got the build, the strength, the presence, the attitude, and the acting chops to pull it off.

Well, WB released the first piece of art for the WW movie, and it's a bit of an Adam Hughes cover...

As for Gina Torres, I wouldn't like to see her as WW, just like I wouldn't like to see Adam Baldwin as Luke Cage.

Gina would be kickass as the amazon General Phillipus.

I so hope they base the movie of the George Pérez relaunch, specially the Saga of Ares. In a few issues, WW goes against Decay (backtranslating the name in Portuguese), Phobos, Deimos, Ares and a ton of possessed soldiers.

I think that would be absolutely the best way to go. My fingers are crossed. (Which is making it hard to type, but...)

I am rather confident that Joss will understand that WW has a pretty well-established image, and "tiny" is not part of it.

True. But "big" isn't a part of it either. The most popular rendition of WW in the past, oh, 30 years is probably her rendition in the JLU cartoon. And on that show, WW is basically an average-sized, feminine woman (compare her to the JLU rendition of Big Barda, who's drawn much more, well, bigger).

Before the JLU WW, obviously Linda Carter was the ideal WW. And while Carter wasn't tiny, she was still rather soft and very feminine looking.

I agree that WW shouldn't be a tiny waif, but she shouldn't be well-muscled, either. IMO she should look athletic while still being slim and graceful.

Right. Don't cast some body-builder, but someone like Gellar is definitely out. If you're going to look at old Whedon actresses, Charisma Carpenter might pull it off. Gina Torres too, if one can get past the "being black" thing.

The question isn't WHO they cast, but whether or not they'll keep in that thing about her losing her powers when bound...;)
Thank the Goddesses that was ditched waaaay before Crisis...

I just hope they don't include:
- Giant Kangaroos for the amazons to ride;
- Spinning to change costume;
- Invisible Jet. I mean, really.

Judging from Whedon's run in Astonishing X-Men, he can play close attention to an established character's history, so here's hoping he's reading the collected Saga of Ares paperback.

George Pérez's Ares, translated to the big screen, could rival Darth Vader in visual coolness!
