Whedon does Wonder Woman

BTW, rumors had it that Joss Whedon was keen on having Kim Basinger as WW, while Joel Silver would rather have Jessica Biel under the tiara.

Of all the Whedonverse actresses, I'd be inclined towards either Alexa Davalos (Gwen Raiden in Angel) or Morena Baccarín (Inara in Firefly) as potential Dianas. The actress that played Miss Calendar in Buffy might be good as well, but I'd need to see a more recent performance...

Right. Don't cast some body-builder, but someone like Gellar is definitely out.

Yep. Some people have suggested ex-WWE wrestler Chyna or other female bodybuilding types for the role, and IMO that direction is even more wrong than the Gellar look.

Charisma would be good.

I thought he said he didn't want to see an anorexic chick. That completely rules out Acker. Dushku's closer, but she doesn't have the presence for the role.
They can bulk up. All they need is Kirstie Alley as their diet coach. :p

I still maintain that the best possible Wonder Woman would be Gina Torres, except that the movie-going public wouldn't accept a black Wonder Woman. She's got the build, the strength, the presence, the attitude, and the acting chops to pull it off.
Well, we do have Nia Vardalos of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. She's not anorexic.

At the risk of losing all my Geek-Cred, I honmestly believe that Joss Whedon is bafflingly over-rated.

Here's hoping he's confined to DC Comics properties. ;)

edit: Now, Russ Meyer could direct Wonder Woman any time he wanted.

I dunno. The first four seasons of Buffy were fantastic. The last seasons and Angel did nothing for me. Firefly was fantastic. And his run on Astonishing X-Men has been really good. I don't think he's a god, but he's certainly got talent.

His work on Astonishing X-Men, as mentioned above, does show that he can treat a property with respect for its roots.

Then again, last I heard about his Wonder Woman thoughts before this thread, people were saying he did want SMG to do it, sooooo....

We shall see.
