Whedon sounds death knell for Firefly/Serenity

He could always try other mediums for it.

Firefly: The Musical, starring the Lord of the Dance guy. (Who looks a lot like a cast member, I think. Same sort of hair, anyway)

Or probably not. But that did work for Mel Brooks.

Anime would work pretty well.

Anyway, I think this is premature. The thing pretty much broke even in the theaters (including foreign take) and will make money after DVD sales are done, possibly a lot.

Does anyone know if Universal is going to release a trilogy DVD box set with Wing Commander, Ghosts of Mars, and Serenity? Some people like to have connected movies of an ongoing series all together in an attractive keep case.
Oh, snap!

Joss, Kai Lord just torched your ass!

(I liked Firefly/Serenity, but that was pretty darn funny)

Heh, just messin' with you guys. I didn't care much for the flick, but to each his own. There are definitely worse movies to gush over. :)

and I'm one of the ... four... people that liked Wing Commander.

Ouch.

I, too, came to Firefly late (in 2005). It's original run was too short and choppy for my schedule to settle onto it. And it is an excellent series.

But the movie really has provided some closure for me. If nothing more Firefly ever gets made, I'm content. If more gets made and the quality is just as good, I'm going to watch it. Don't get me wrong. But I'm at peace with it never coming back as well.

We own the Firefly series and the Serenity widescreen and will watch both multiple times over the years, I am sure. I loved them both.

If nothing else gets made, that'll be too bad, but it'll be ok with me. I would rather have nothing new from that, than have it run down like other shows that didn't know when to pack it up and say "I'm done." *cough*Alias*cough* That just leaves bad tastes in fans' mouths.

I'm going to show Serenity to my folks this weekend. I've been telling them to get Firefly from Netflix for a year now, and I don't think they ever did. I've been beating people over the head with Firefly/Serenity for a year, and no one listened - pff, their loss! I'm interested to know if they will "get" Serenity, not having watched Firefly. I'm sure I'll tell them a few things before they watch it - like "ignore the cursing in Chinese, it's just their thing," because otherwise they'd just get stuck on it like "why the frik are they cursing in Chinese?!?"

I found it interesting that inside our Serenity DVD, there's nothing. No paper insert, no booklet explaining the more in-depth details of the series and film, nada. That's not really the way to get people to buy the thing, imho. If they haven't watched the series, they're not going to buy the film if they don't understand what the heck is going on. But maybe I'll be proven wrong, and I'll happily say I'm wrong.
