Wheel of Time Netbook needs cover

I don't know, I actually got the installation off a CD. Not that that's any help to you... all I know is that the total package was approximately 10Mb in size. (It expanded to 30-40Mb during installation.)

Looking at the Windows download page, I can see your confusion. I think it actually wants you to compile it, which is stupid. Look, I'll see if I can find a place where they actually distribute something similar to the installer I got. I'll be back once I've scoured the Web looking for sanity.

(This may seem like a lot of trouble, but GIMP really helped me. And you don't have to go pirating Photoshop to get functionality. Not to say GIMP is perfect... but I'll see what I can find.)

Thanks S/lash I tried to download it (It took two hours and when I went to install it I got an error message about the installer so that was that.

Meanwhile I penned and then attempted to color the Tuatha'an Picture which I am posting below in my old program.

Yes I did indeed like Thomas Gainsboroughs art, especially the rustic Wagon scenes of his. Though personally I am into the Sea Potraits of Ivan Aaivazovsky

Ivan's artwork is really nice. I showed it to my g/f and she showed me another artist with beautiful seascapes (she's Pisces and all of this water talk just gets her wet ;)) I forgot his name though. When I talk to her, I'll grab it for you, to see if you like it.

Some WoT fan artist (perhaps you could bring into the fold

Lotta Tjernmtroms Gallery
http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Gallery/4260/wot.html

Shadar Logoth
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~plummerj/wot/shadar.html

Thanks!

I've actually seen work from both of them before. I'll email them and see if they're willing to help us out. It would be awesome to get a group of artists who enjoy this setting (and maybe even the game) to beautify the netbook. It'll also help some of you out, since the netbooks tend to get a lot of distribution (ask Eosin about that ;)).

Don't rule me out just yet.

Now, as to a related matter:

Sidran, what art program are you using? I use The Gimp, which is free and about as powerful as Photoshop. It's a little buggy, but I like it. However, colouring pencils is always nasty; they're very fuzzy, unlike inks. I tried it today on an unrelated matter and the results are... shall we say, mixed. (Oh, you'll want lots of RAM and hard drive space to run GIMP; it's a 'real' editor.)

s/LaSH, no one's ruling anyone out. If you've sketched/produced anything WoT-related that you think we'll like, send it here, or email me with it at doctrinal_expletives@yahoo.com. In the end, what I think we're going to do it have each piece we receive (and like) matched with an article or other submission that we have for the netbook.

...and before I run away from here for the moment...

Priest... your sketches are really nice. I like your character stuff a lot.

Later on, I'm going to see about setting up a little page with descriptions of article items (people, items, locations, whatever) that we can direct artists to, so that you can maybe see specific things that we have for illustration. I think it'll help us both out.

Thanks,

I haven't been doing much art lately due to other things but I am playing a WoT PbP campaign here at ENworld. I am definitly still open for requests

You'll be getting them. Both of you will, as well as any other artists who join us. I'll let you all know when that page is set up with article descriptions.

Kip, I think that your artwork, like Sidran's, would fit in very well with what we are doing. Consider yourelf joined. ;)

I will email you in a bit with some more info.

s/LaSH, where are you? I would really love to see any WoT-related sketches or finished pieces you have... or anything you have that's not specifically WoT, but would fit the setting.

I will get back to the both of you in a short while. I'm waiting for feedback from the rest of the Illuminati about setting up a page for artists to peruse so they can find specific articles that have been submitted to the netbook and accepted. This way, you can gear your works towards things we have that you like (yep, we're not forcing anything big and hairy down your throats) and dazzle the whole sorry lot of us.

There are also a few others joining our worthy (and growing) cause. More news on that later though.

Welcome to the fold, s/LaSH and Kip the Bold.
