My take...

I have BOTH Hardcover and Paperback. So I know what I'm saying about this:

Shadar Haran is in reality, Rush Limbaugh reincarnated. He's pissed because he's under the thumb of some guy that keeps speaking to him in capital letters.

Ishy will finally succum to the madness, kill of all the Chosen and then raise up a new batch by using the souls of the most evil guys and gals imagineable, namely the "NEW" pop superstars! :)

Rand Al'thor will not go mad, but people will think him a stud for bagging three women and they don't try to kill him for it. But any suggestion of "pillow mates" is heartily frowned on.

Mat will go off, save the world, and no one will care because they STILL think he's a louse. ;)

And Perrin will turn out to not be a Wolf Brother, just on a bad acid trip. ;)

Meanwhile the Dark One gets sealed back up, and he thinks "Darn, guess I'll have to wait another eon or two before I get out THIS mess."

Actually, we'll find out Mat isn't lucky at all, he's just crazy, and Rand has been subconsciously using the One Power to keep him alive all along. He can't even really speak the Old Tongue, it's just baby talk.

*Chuckles*

I don't think it will ever end. The reason he can't finish it is he has no idea where to take it. A great world and an interesting story can still get too long. I bored just thinking about it. Yawn.

Shaidar Haran...

Many posters believe Shaidar Haran (aka "the Hand of the Dark") has a free will...Interesting supposition.

Although Shaidar Haran mentions that he wants to break the ties away...it wasn't specifically away from the DO.

Only from Shayol Gul.

If the theory that he is the Avatar/Manifestation of DO holds true, then DO will want to cut his Avatar away from Shayol Gul as far as possible.

So that he can wreak more havok and gain greater influence in the world (in other words, touch the world more firmly...touch...Hand of the Dark...get it?). There are many references of the danger of Dark One touching the world (or was it the Pattern?) once again.

This of course puts him at least a rank above the Naeblis (Ishy/Moridin)

Just my 2 cents. :)

Hey Ruvion, that's an interesting theorie. I never thought about it that way. You may just be on to something. There is a lot of mystery surrounding not only Shaidar Haran but all the myrddraals. They weren't created on purpose and some of their abilities are a mystery even to the Forsaken. For all we know they could be a contingincy plan on the part of the DO and Shaidar Haran is meant to control them. It's been mentioned in the books a couple times at least how the Forsaken don't know how the myrddraals came about. I wonder if this will lead to anything in the futur.

I've heard the series will go on for twenty books and that many of the characters will be transported to 20th Century Earth for books 13 and 14. Its expected that Jordan won't survive long enough to write 18-20 so those books will be completed by his illegitimate son Bruce.
