From the Tor website:

Internationally bestselling author Robert Jordan's eleventh book in his wildly popular The Wheel of Time™ series, Knife of Dreams (A Tor hardcover; 704 pages; $29.95; 0-312-87307-7), will go on-sale nation-wide this October 11, 2005. Knife of Dreams will be the second to last book in the highly acclaimed The Wheel of Time™ series, the last three books of which have all been #1 New York Times bestsellers.

Just thought I'd throw this out there......

I figure Robert Jordan is the result of an ambiguously-worded Wish, and a cruel DM.

"I wish to be a bestselling fantasy author!"

*POOF* ...the wish is granted and in the process of becoming a bestselling fantasy author, he completely forgets how to actually write a coherant story.

That being said, now that they've committed to only 2 more books, I'm tempted to pick it back up again...

It will be interesting to see how he can wrap up all the open threads in only two books.....

I don't see how he'll manage it either, but he seems convinced that he can do it; at least, Tor's promo copy is calling this the next to last book in the series.

Me, I'll be buying the hardcover and reading it right away mostly for completist reasons. I've been reading the books for ten years now, and he's written eight good novels in a ten book series, so I think I've got to finish the thing.

It probably is the next to the last boox in this series, followed by the new 12 Book Series titled "Breaking of the World" where he will finally finish up those open plot points.
